Rnd 2 - Central v North @ Playford Alive Oval (Sat N 6/4)

The very young and inexperienced Doggies side looked good against the Bloods last week but conceded a 10 goal 3rd term and couldn't peg back the deficit from there. The Roosters had the bye, thankfully, in Round 1 with 38 players copping the gastro bug last week. It will be interesting to see what side North fields and whether or not Roy Laird sticks with the kids or brings some experience into the side.

Reserves @ 3:45pm

League @ 6:30pm

Having not played a game of footy since the Crows last trial game against Calrton a month ago, it will be interesting to see whether or not Ian Callinan is sent back to Central or picked for Adelaide to play up in Brisbane this weekend:

We lost by 17 points and then they belted us in the finals by 88 points.

And that score flattered the Dogs on that Saturday evening at the Ponderosa...

North were 7 or 8 goals up at 3/4 time, after dominating the contest up to 3/4 time, taking the foot off the pedal in the final term. It was the Gowans' twins last game at Elizabeth.

I don't see it going well for us this Saturday night, either.
For no other reason than pessimism - that feeling that used to follow Centrals supporters around like a shaggy dog prior to 2000.

In Central's favour North are coming off a round 1 bye (2nd year in a row) which IMHO is a huge disadvantage putting a team one week behind the preparation of other clubs. Probably worked in our favour having Castro go through the club last week but it still puts them behind he eight ball. North do have the best record against the Dogs under lights out there though.

I know we struggle at times but having a Cuban Dictator in as a consultant is taking it a bit far? :D

Callinan is fit to play, wonder if he will go in to the crows or have a week at the dogs

Nope thats the official INS & OUTS at this stage!!

I really dont know whats going on at the club at the moment.

We managed to win 8 premierships playing 2 specialist ruckmen yet all of a sudden the coaching panel have decided a two specialist ruckmen structure is out the window.

What i dont get is every trial we played two big men, they dominated the taps and we dominated the clearances. We get to round 1 and all of a sudden we decided to play the Ken Farmer Medalist as a second ruck.

We are playing probably the biggest forward line set up this week which we have struggled with the last 2-3 years and we now we are expecting two undersized inexperienced defender are going to have to do the job. Surely Osborne had to come in and Hardy to play where required whether that be forward or defence.

I'm a big fan of 2 ruckman too whufc, but last week's loss was caused by losing the centre breaks. Williams and Dunne will bolster the midfield. With Colquhoun a possible inclusion for the Power may be Castree will be the other one to drop out. I'd kept Glenn 'in' as he looks like a very versatile player.

Im happy for Williams and Dunne to come in no probs with that at all.

We have always based our sides around having a real solid back 6 and from there we managed to kick winning scores with a couple of tall forwards and midfielders who were sharpe around goal.

Now our biggest weakness is our defence.

Take a look at last years premiers Norwood and Sydney. Solid solid solid defences.
