Agreed.

Lets not put the cost of sport out of the reach of Mr & Mrs Average with 2 or 3 kids going to school and a heavy mortgage to pay.

Life is tough financially for this group. Gen Y's.

They are our future. :D
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

Unfortunately no. The growth occurring in the area is exceeding current infrastructure capacity. Just the increase in numbers of defence personnel alone is putting pressure on infrastructure, let alone the uptake of new industry in the greater edinburgh parks area. Good news for SA with the region thriving, but social developments such as this need to occur to capitilise on the excellent work being done.

Whilst I think these type of sporting "Hubs" are a great idea, do not hold your breath.
When I started my new job 3 years ago at West Beach, I was informed a multi million dollar expansion would be completed in 18 months.
Still waiting for it to start.
Lots of things get spruiked around elections, but watch the funds dry up after Sept. 14.
The money being spent on the "Kurt Tippett" bridge over the Torrens alone could fund both the Elizabeth & Adelaide Shores project, with enough left over reopen the schools that have closed in and around my area, which now leaves 2 choices of public high schooling for my kids, but thats another story.

Good luck tho, it might encourage me to take the waterbag drive out to Platten Park to watch a game ;)

this will go ahead, the Munno Para bowls site has been sold for an incredible $7million, they are relocating to the new sports hub, together with the club that's already next to Elizabeth Oval.

No. Not putting in infrastructure to support the quickly growing population in the north, which is set to become the powerhouse of this state if planned correctly, will lead to more community dislocation, producing more people of the type you so clearly loathe.
Plenty of similar $$$$ were, and still are being, poured into the Golden Grove area. The development situation in the north is on a much larger scale than that. Take a look at the size of Playford Alive, plus there are three subdivisions going up around the Gawler area already, along with the proposed Roseworthy development and additional catchment developments in Two Wells and Buckland Park (if it goes ahead) and you can see how many houses are being built. Roseworthy is absolutely massive.

Great. I am all for it then.
Anything that gets the youth of today participating in sport of any kind rather than what the alternative is can only be good for the community in general.
As to it being tough for gen "Y's", well its tough for all of us at the moment, but I still would rather pay a couple of hundred bucks each for my three kids and be involved in a club atmosphere rather than give them another bloody nintendo game. Between scouts, karate, swimming, gymnastics, milo cricket & now junior footy, my kids have a better social life a carp load better than mine.

They failed to include a detention centre :)
Good onya if it comes off. The more sporting centres the better, nothing has a better influence on kids than growing up within a sporting culture.
