Westies 2-in-1 jumper for 2013

Postby Dogsbody » Sun Jan 27, 2013 11:47 am

The Bloods' on-field apparel provider VIVSports has provided the club with a nifty dollar saver for 2013... a reversible jumper! Turn the predominantly black jumper inside out and it becomes a clash strip, with the colours reversed. Rather clever, eh?

Check it out at the club website through the link below.

Not good from a marketing point of view - since the fans only have to buy 1 guernsey, not 2

Wouldn't they sell the guernseys individually, and not reversible

From a marketing point of view this strikes me as a bit of a W**K.

But it also sends the wrong message of , "We're too broke to afford two sets of guernseys."

For a junior footy point of view it's a great concept.

When two teams clash often the visitors have to wear their jumpers inside out which is usually all white.

Having a clash jumper on the inside ready to go would be a great improvement.

Personally I applaud the version of the clash jumper Westies have chosen.
Effective clash, with same jumper design, just reverse the traditional club colours.

Hear hear, agree 100%

Also means that the long suffering parent who wants to keep the juniors in the household happy only has to buy the one Guernsey as well.

I like it. Wish the bays would consider something like this (The voting, not necessarily the clash design).

Was looking at the concept for junior cricket a few years back and the only way it was possible was to have double thickness of material (something to do with the sublimation process rendering the inside of the material useless for a second run of colouring). No cost saving and double thickness made it pointless.

Has this been overcome? Terrific if it has, massive potential for saving money in junior sport in particular.

Bit uncomfortable with the numbers and logos rubbing against your skin ?
Just make sure it is a decent bright red not the washed out thing of the past .... same red Norwood and Melbourne use. Hate it ! Is it the material that won't allow for a BRIGHT red ?

The next option for West was to buy body paint and paint on numbers and a sash for the games they need an alternative colour! Pasty white and black numbers and sash!

If it saves the club money, I am all for it. The club thinks that if it works, most other clubs will be using it next year. Could save the club upto $10,000 this year.

Most kids who go to the SANFL these days only have one jumper rather than both a home and an away jumper.

SDK the numbers are printed so no problem with the stitched in number

North have done away with an alternative jumper now we have gone back to white shorts. The only time we will wear red shorts as an alternative is when we play Central at Elizabeth as their home shorts are white.

It makes you wonder why every club (AFL included) can't do this. :?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Well done Westies ...

Reversible jumper is a great idea and you've finally got a decent and proper clash guernsey.

Bravo!
