CHRIS KENDALL WINS FAVOURITE SANFL MEDIA PERSONALITY
The winners of the inaugural FOOT-e TIMES SA MEDIA POLL have now been announced with one of local media’s most diverse analysts, Chris Kendall, claiming the major award of FANS FAVOURITE SANFL MEDIA PERSONALITY.
Chris covered the SANFL media spectrum this season as a boundary rider and occasional commentator on ABC1’s weekly telecast plus regular radio commentator on RPH Adelaide and SANFL writer for Sportsbeat.
His SANFL Media Career began in 2004 when he hosted a weekly SANFL Segment on Community TV station C31. He went on to host a one hour TV program “Total SANFL” before joining the ABC’s SANFL TV team in a part time statisticians role in 2007. He is now in his 7th season writing weekly Sportsbeat articles which are a mixture of both a preview of all SANFL games and a feature piece on a local football issue. He is also heard on RPH Adelaide during their Friday Night and Sunday broadcasts.
Chris narrowly defeated co-RPH & ABC1 commentator Michael Maney with Phil Aspinall & Neil Cross in a virtual tie for 3rd.

: 1197am RPH ADELAIDE
1197am RPH Adelaide, who broadcast over 50 SANFL games this year, in their 22nd season of SANFL coverage, dominated the results with 53% of the votes, with the leagues other weekly broadcaster 107.9 Life FM coming in second with 24%. RPH Adelaide used a large broadcast team in 2012 which included Darryl Smith, Dennis Browne, Kym Morgan, Grant Coffee, Neil Cross, Michael Maney, Chris Kendall, John Nankivell, Phil Herden & Phil Aspinall.

: SANFL LEAGUE TEAMS SHOW (RPH Adelaide)

Now in its 22rd season, the RPH SANFL League Teams Show, which airs from 8pm to 9pm on a Thursday evening, collected almost 45% of the votes whilst FIVEaa’s SANFL Show on Sunday evenings finished 2nd with almost 30%.
FAVOURITE PLAY BY PLAY COMMENTAOR
: MICHAEL MANEY (ABC1 / RPH Adelaide)
Michael Maney, well known for his Friday Night broadcasts on RPH Adelaide and Saturday commentary on ABC1 was a clear winner with 14% of the total votes. The remaining finallists Dennis Browne, Neil Cross, Chris Kendall & John Nankivell were bunched together on about 9% each. Michael has now moved back to his home state of Tasmania to take up a role as sports newsreader for Southern Cross Television.
FAVOURITE SPECIAL COMMENTS EXPERT
: GRANT COFFEE (RPH Adelaide)
Grant Coffee a regular special comments expert on RPH Adelaide during their Friday Night and Sunday radio broadcasts collected 13% of the vote, followed by Phil Aspinall on 12% and Brenton Phillips on 11%. He was also part of the RPH SANFL Leagues Show team that won the award for favourite SANFL Radio Show.
FAVOURITE SUPPORT COMMENTATOR
: PHIL ASPINALL (RPH Adelaide / LifeFM)
In 2012 Phil Aspinall performed a wide range of radio roles for both Life FM & RPH Adelaide from calling, to special comments, boundary riding, around the grounds and stats. He was rewarded for his versatility by receiving 27% of votes ahead of ABC 1 boundary rider Chris Kendall with 24%. Ben Knights and Don Cooper finished almost tied for 3rd with 13%. Phil was also part of the RPH SANFL Leagues Show team that won the award for favourite SANFL Radio Show
FAVOURITE SANFL WRITER
: JAI BEDNALL (Local Footy SA)
Jai’s Monday Morning Centreman column in Local Footy SA proved a runaway favourite with voters in the most one sided result of the survey. He finished with 19% of the votes almost double his nearest rivals. The remaining four finallists Chris Kendall, Warren Partland, Zac Millbank & Reece Homfray finished in a distant pack with around 10% each.

FOOT-e TIMES SA FAN FAVOURITES BACKGROUND
- The poll was open through for a 3 week period in September-October 2012.
- The survey was publicised through SANFL fan forum sites such as safooty.net & bigfooty.com, plus it was sent to the SANFL & their clubs and promoted on SANFL related fan facebook sites. Votes were vetted with restrictions place on duplicates placed from the same IP address. Most categories received over 400 “unique” votes.
