why would you say that, when he's only been coaching for 3 years? What do you think of Roy Laird then? Quite frankly, I couldn't care less who coaches who. On game day, all I want to do is watch my side play good footy & win & if it's a good game, then that's even better. There would be nothing worse next year to play Norwood and beat them all year, only to have their supporters blame the fact that Bassett has gone & that's the reason why We beat them. I want to play Norwood in the 2013 Grand Final & win, with Bassett coaching, just to show them that back to back is reserved for the elite sides ;)

The only down side to winning the flag this year was not beating Centrals in the GF .... something supporters were looking forward to all year.
Hopefully we can rectify that next year seeing Centrals are in drought .... 3 years between flags ;)

Nathan Bassett will " test himself " Dols but he will only go to a job that suits him. No need to rush at the first offer if the fit is not right. Can think of a lot worse jobs than coaching the Redlegs.

It has nothing to do with not wanting to test himself.

The money offered was not enough. Same for McLeod. I know what he got offered and it isn't worth moving your family interstate for. It wouldn't even be worth changing jobs in Adelaide for.

Exactly
I believe McLeod was only going to be an assistant's assistant on minimal wage.
A bigger job will come along for Bass

Great for Norwood and great for our comp, he provides a great link to the media and confirms that coaching in the SANFL isnt necessarily 2nd best to the AFL.

IIRC Scott Waters coached for a period in the WAFL before going into the AFL and it hasnt done him any harm waiting.

I don't think the SANFL is a small pond. They had 30 000 there on GF day. That is the equivalent of 3 Port Power crowds. At least he is staying with a SOuth Australian team in a South Australian comp as opposed to jumping to the VFL.

I personally was glad the Doggies didn't make the GF. I believe that not making the GF hurts the Doggies more than losing a GF. If a team plays in a GF, then it can win that game. The Doggies losing the Semi by 12 goals and going out in straight sets was almost as enjoyable as the 'Legs winning the GF.

I'd say it was a lot more enjoyable than the GF!

Good for Norwood. Bad for the rest of us.
Basset should & could step in to a senior AFL coaching role. Bugger being an assistant.
He's is obviously a quality coach.

If he wanted to be a big fish in a small pond he would have joined the Power.

Wasn't up to scratch for AFL according to the Gold Coast, if he was they would of signed him up.
To be honest i think he just loves the attention & full of himself.

Wanted a Senior Assistant role, but only offered a Junior Assistant position. Why settle for less? Has the chance to go back-to-back now and consider more lucrative opportunities in twelve months time. You know it makes sense.
