Anything official been said about the timing issue? We're West the only one that got it right or the only one that got it wrong? If we were on time and then not allowed to warm up then something needs to be said.

all i remember was saying was Collins saying that they had gone by the sanfl timesheet.
But obviously there was an adjustment as norwood and umpires were ready to go at same time.
I just blame Chandler!

I always thought the break was 20 minutes regardless of the time? Norwood and the umpires seemed to be on the right page.
Wouldn't have been an issue in a normal game, at least half a dozen more goals, half-time scoreline of around 8 to 4, would have meant 4-5 minutes more of timeon and then everything would have been okay.
Probably the SANFL's fault for not considering which teams were playing

Correct me if i am wrong but is there a bell in the change rooms that rings the same time as the siren surley that would have given some one the message that it was time to get out on the field. Generally there are three rings for 3 minutes then two for two minutes & one for one minute to go before play will start.

Half time is 20 minutes in all 4 grades in the SANFL. Some times it will be longer due to the teams not being ready. In an u18s game between the Eagles and West at Richmond, we had a 26 minute half time because West were very late coming back on to the ground. If it was up to me, we would have started the 2nd half before West were ready.

There is a bell in the changerooms, but it's up the timekeepers to know there that is and press it. As for the rings it's 2 - 2 minutes and 1 minute there is no 3 rings for 3 minutes.

At the time thought it may have been a tactic by West and we were set for something a bit different in the second half, but a few minutes later that idea was stuffed.

Bit off topic I know, but I thought Westies might have gone the biff a lot earlier than they did .. I don't think it would have brought our guys undone, far from it, but I think they had to try something, anything, to change the course of the game.

Yeah, I thought they might run straight to their positions and all over the field start seriously getting into their opponents with the bumping and niggling.

Following is a part of the SANFL Grand Final Day running sheet
It a little contridictory in that at point 97 is says half time is 20 minutes
but at point 103 it says teams to re-enter arena at 4.41pm (15 minutes after start of the half time break) with 3rd quarter to start at 4.46pm.
Now pre game the teams entry is set to the clock. You come out at the time it says.
Once the game begins however everyone knows that times become approximate due to the varying length of quarters.
However "approx" is not listed on the team sheet with the times.
So looks like West went with the set time, everyone else the standard approx times.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
97 4:26pm League ½ time Break (20 mins) Auskick Grid games to be played on entire Oval.
98 4:27pm Satisfaction to perform Second Set: (ABC to cue)
1. Satisfaction (4 mins) – 10 second applause for ABC to breakaway
Satisfaction / BSS / Leanne ABC
99 4:31pm 2. Miss You (5 mins) (Satisfaction / BSS)
100 4:36pm 3. Sympathy for the Devil (5mins)
Total 14mins (Satisfaction / BSS)
101 4:41pm MC to thank Satisfaction (W Phillips)
102 4:41pm Event Day staff to collect premiership cup from Media centre
103 4:41pm Teams re-enter arena (Football Managers)
104 4:46pm Third Quarter commences

Yes, I was all for bouncing the ball whether they were out or not!
I have a vague memory that it may have actually happened once in a SANFL game years ago...

It happened on Jume 10th 1933 in a game between Norwood an South at the Parade. The umpire bounced the ball after half time without South on the ground. Norwood scored a goal before South entered the field. Norwood won the game by 8 points.

I think they learnt in 91 that thats not a good idea as they just got biffed back even harder and lost by even more.

They might as well have done that last weekend. It wouldn't have made any difference

Get rid of all the yes men. It's not a game of chess, it's football. Kick the ball between the big sticks.
