I think the public should pick the umpires not the bloody commission....

At the moment we'd be struggling to find 3 consistent umpires. It might be more a case of who you don't want.

Terrible idea. You only have to spend a couple of minutes amongst any supporter group to realise most of the crowd have no idea when it comes to umpiring.

Personally I think its a good idea, now that Richard has f%*#d off
Would be a better idea if the players in the bottom 4 sides picked the umpires, get some revenge for missing out

I think the minor round Premier should get to choose the umpires this year as a one off special!
The footy public choose? No, for the reason above.
(And because the vote would be so split we'd probably finish up with Julia Gillard as the umpire.)

Alternatively, 1 umpire can sit in the members stand, 1 sit behind the northern goals and 1 sit on the eastern side with the sun in his eyes all afternoon. Obviously these are the best postions to make umpiring decisions.
