Rnd 24 - Eagles v West POST GAME DISCUSSIONS

Postby Wedgie » Sun Sep 09, 2012 6:09 pm

Eagles 7.10 52
West 5.6 36

Hall 2
Caruso 2

The Eagles finish their late climb into the finals and West enter the finals on the back of some very ordinary performances.

Premiership defence is on...didn't even need to beat the Tigers...there are 4 pretty scared SANFL teams at the moment...if ever you need proof that it ain't over till the fat lady sings...would love to be a fly on the wall in the Glenelg rooms now...

Really?
Wouldnt think kicking 7 goals against a severely depleted Wests side in perfect conditions would have too many sides trembling.
Would think there still needs quite a bit of improvement to worry the Top 2

You've got to be kidding RB. We don't deserve to play finals. Just making up the numbers.

Scared, not shitting themselves. But the top 2 are in relatively poor form ATM. Remember the Eagles have been within a goal of Central and 2 goals of Norwood this year.

You don't win finals or premierships by getting within the best sides.
You have to win, and you haven't done that this year.
Norwood & Centrals will not be shaking in thier boots.
This sort of logic belongs in an airport choir.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

I'll put it this way, I think the Eags have more chance of winning the flag this year than Port ever had of making the five.

What a joke. Eagles were ordinary. Missing for Westies were Schmidt, Fisher, Fielke, Beech, HartlettHartlett, North will beat them next week.

All I can say folks is that they've written the Eags off plenty of times this season. I don't think I'm alone in saying they can do some genuine damage in the finals. They're up against the odds to win the GF, and I wouldn't bet any amount of money on them winning it, but Christ they've defied the odds a bit recently...

Two weeks in a row you have to question the selection strategy of Westies or if it is injury keeping players out, they hit the finals pretty light on for form and fitness.

How the hell did the Eagles make the 5 after then position they were in 8 weeks ago. Good effort to get there.
PAFC. Forever.

Awesome effort by Godden and the players. At times this year it was only them and eaglehaslanded that believed it was possible to make the finals! Gotta be in it to win it and the Eagles are still there. Bring on the finals!

GO YOU MIGHTY EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!! GREEN AND GOLD! :D :D :D

That being said, West rested players this week, as did Centrals. I'm not taking anything for granted, and I think that our road through the finals will be tough and testing. But I am amazed - and elated - that we made it through to the finals after that shocker first half of a year. I also think that our finals experience will bode well for us. But I'm not going to worry about any of that tonight. I'm just going to celebrate. We're the mighty (hic) flying Eagles!!! :partyman:

Actually West Adelaide are the joke with that pathetic super flood they employ. Collins must think he is coaching a team of hacks if he thinks he has to resort to that cr@p. You expect to see that from the bottom sides playing top sides when they haven't got hope in hell of winning. Not a team sitting third and considered a 'premiership chance'. The SANFL must be secretly praying that West don't make the GF so that the larger audience who will watch the game don't think flooding is what SANFL is about. The sooner West get rid of Collins, the better for their club and they might just win a GF sometime in the near future.

Anyway a great game today by so many eagles. Day was BOG for the eagles. Simply outstanding and a pity he couldn't bring that game in the first half of the year when we needed it. Fitzgerald played really well down back filling in for Thompson. Jarrad, and Lewis were the pick of our midfielders and Goldsworthy and an exceptional second half.

Still lots of question marks concerning Staple and Grocke though. I thought both were pretty average.

On their day the Eagles can beat anyone but unfortunatly for them they are going to have to do it 4 times over.

Could get to a prelim but to winning the flag abit far away.
