Just to good today, would have liked to win by more. Sturt CS has some answers to give after giving racial abuse to a couple Eagles players. This is what I heard.

The Eagles for now at least are in the top 5 for the first time this season. Makes for an interesting last round.

I'm devastated... another wooden spoon... its a return to the dark times...

... I'm not angry or frustrated with the players, I genuinely think they had a go pretty much the whole season, just not good enough when it counted and once again I feel we're bottom without being a typically inept wooden spooner side.

Unfortunately, I'm not particularly confident about 2013. I think we'll lose some experienced but average players and have to stick with the un-tried and inexperienced, so its hard not to see Sturt start favourite for the spoon again.

Again, just devastated.

I agree that you guys haven't been one of those "walk up start 2 points", that we often/regularly see in a Wooden Spooner. Really seems as though you guys fell away a bit in the 2nd half of the season.

I know you'll likely lose some as many clubs will, but you have some decent talent in the grades below which is a good start .. I'm guessing you might not have a heap of $$ to play with for potential recruits, just need to try and find/land the right ones to mix with the younger talent you have.

Whilst you would be naturally fearful of another spoon in 2013, you're really not that many wins behind 5th and 4th, and I'm sure there's been at least a few games you dropped from winning positions so there should still be room for some hope in 2013.

Any Sturt boys a chance to drop out of the AFL system that could return?

I dunno... I was thinking Coad might get dropped from GWS... but he's had some good games recently...

... my only concern about the Reserves is that they might be good Reserves players, but not league players. As we've had a top Reserves side for years, but we've still slumped from 2009 GF to successive spoons without much of a yelp.

There are some good players there, I agree, but I'm going with the assumption that South and Port and Torrens will improve themselves, leaving us behind them, I can only really hope that Glenelg and North crash.

I think Coad has a pretty decent offer/role off-field with the Suns so is unlikely to go anywhere

Four Crows players absolutely stood out four the blues today, sturt would have been in big trouble without them.

Wasn,t impressed with the umpiring of the Lee Staples incident, last quarter NE flank. Video review should come into play here.

Whilst results went our way this week - next week another matter - 4 teams with a chance for 4th and 5th and Port have the best %.

I must congratulate the Sturt FC on the presentation of the oval today - was in good nick. Further as I crossed the ground to go to my car about 40 minutes after the final siren to see the work going on was amazing with the fences and the cleaning of the ground/stands etc. Even at that time there must have been a dozen dogs on leads and off leads on the ground.

I reckon Sturt a better side this year than last and just so proud that the Eagles showed them the respect they deserve and fought hard all day to break away and keep the difference high enough to get into the 5 tonight.

Thought it was a very even performance by the Eagles and did like Tim Sumner's first game effort.

Another successful trip to Unley for the eags today, we have a very good record out there. A very even spread of good players for the Eags today. Nick Joyce looks a likely type and Tim Sumner showed glimpses in his first game. How we keep getting by with our makeshift ruck combo never ceases to amaze me and credit must go to our onballers who were fantastic again today.
Staple and Grocke kicking 10-0 between them was first class.
Whilst we could still make the 5 by losing next week if results went our way, I would much rather beat West and get in on our own merits.

So the Eagles keep teasing us all the way through to the last round! Still not sure if serious!

Was strange watching the game with a 5 goal minimum margin the break even point. Was hoping the Eagles would kick on a bit further in the last quarter, but Sturt kept attacking and running and kicking enough goals to keep the margin down to 7.

A good effort from the Eagles. Thought the midfield worked well to the losing rucks and we were stronger in general play. The defensive pressure was pretty good. Thought Joyce was excellent and a real positive going forward. Staple was fantastic all day and he finished off his hard work with good kicking for goal.

Thought Tambling was very good for Sturt and really didn't think there was anything in the tackle that resulted with Staple going off concussed. Was just one of those incidents that happen sometimes in a footy game. Tambling did show concern for Staple straight away and for that I don't think he deserved the abuse he copped from the Eagles supporters on that side of the ground.

Thought we were in it until about the 10 minute mark of the third quarter and in the end we were probably lucky the margin wasn't even greater given the ease with which the Eagles moved the ball forward.
The fact that we couldn't hit a target with a 5 metre handball proved very costly. Think Adam Grocke could have played in the big time going on his form over the last few years and why that hasn't happened I'm not sure. Tim Sumner possibly upstaged his namesake but to be honest I hadn't heard of him - where have you guys been hiding him? Smooth mover with the ball and covers the ground effortlessly so I'm sure a few notebooks would have gotten a bit of a workout.
Tambling has definitely been better since the Eagles game at Woodville and Anderson has battled valiantly at Full Back all year but feel his disposal lacks a bit of polish. Thought Kelly showed enough on debut and despite the fact that a few Eagles supporters in the back North Western corner of the ground didn't think Jenkins is much chop, he's doing pretty well for someone who's only playing his 4th or 5th season of football ever.
Onto Alberton we go!

It is disappointing to finish last again but I think if you finish 2nd or 9th you come away with nothing so they are all in the same position. Only 1 team each year can say they have had a great year and that the one with the cup on the first Sunday in October.

Maybe, but only one team can say that it had a really crap year...
