Cooper's Hill will get the nod as the council thinks that this is the less disruptive option for nearby residents.

2 options still alive ... I wonder if the Mayor has a slight conflict of interest as his brother played for Norwood, abeit a while ago :D

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... 6449178354

NORWOOD Oval's new clubrooms will be built on the ground's iconic Cooper's Hill or into the heritage-listed Edwin T Smith Stand, after Norwood, Payneham & St Peters Council gave both options in-principle support last night.

The $6.3 million Cooper's Hill option and the $6.7 million upgrade of the Edwin T Smith Stand were two of four options considered by the council for clubrooms to be shared by the Redlegs and Norwood RSL.

The first option would see a two-storey building erected on Cooper's Hill, with a bar and dining room for the Redlegs on the ground floor and offices, an RSL dining room and deck on the upper floor.

Architect Nick Tridente told the council meeting the building would overhang Cooper's Hill, preserving the popular area.
The second option would see a three-storey building incorporated into the grandstand.

The other options considered by the council were a $7 million three-storey building to replace the Baulderstone Stand and a $6.8 million three-storey redevelopment of the Norwood RSL site in the oval's south-west corner.

Public feedback on the plans, released in March, revealed the Cooper's Hill option was the most popular, followed by the Baulderstone Stand option.

Norwood president Joe Tripodi yesterday confirmed the club's preference remained the Baulderstone Stand option, unless the council could "convince us otherwise".

Council staff will now consult with the Redlegs and the RSL about funding arrangements before preparing detailed plans for both options for the council's consideration and approval.

Work on the redevelopment is not due to start until the 2013/14 financial year.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

So in reality, we're no closer to seeing something happen now than we were 5 years ago! :(

Ironic isn't it?

I hope something happens at The Parade, as it has all the hallmarks of a classic suburban oval but drastically needs a revamp to spruce up some parts. Could be a real asset for this state.

You've been waiting years for a chance to post that.

What it doesn't need is exactly what it's going to get, a large social facility to cater for a football club who'll be lucky to use it ten to twelve times a year.

If we are not very careful this monument to ego will be a millstone around our neck for years.

RSL will be using it too won't they? Surely it would get used for other functions and things too.

If allowed to be used appropriately, could be a pretty good set-up you'd think.

Spending some money to put padding on the brick wall would be a good option.

You mean like the monument to stupidity gifted to the Campbelltown community by it's council on the Glynde corner?
