A direct quote from Scott Wade head of AFL Tasmania about football governance

AFL Tasmania operates essentially as a department of the AFL and at some point in the not too distant future the AFL will legally own and operate AFL Tasmania. This direction has been promoted regularly over the past five years; it is a national strategy.

where do we fall in this strategy????????????

Outside of it, the AFL must not be allowed to clone football in this state.

Especially when you see what they are doing to the State League in Tasmania

In a nutshell there are 10 teams around the state, 2 in inner city Hobart and none to its outer southern region.

AFL Tasmania has withdrawn the licences of both the Hobart and North Hobart clubs and told them to rebid for 1 licence from 2014.

The licence lost will be given to a new club setting up in this southern area.

Whoever wins that inner city licence can stay in the comp but will need new "branding" .. ie name, colours, jumper etc to be worked on in conjunction with AFL Tasmania.

rumour is that this new branding will be similar to North Melbourne's to tie in with their AFL visiting games played in Hobart. (Although Roos as a nickname is already taken by Clarence)

Now the North Hobart Demons are 131 years old with 29 senior premierships and are financially stable. Their ground North Hobart Oval was TAS football HQ for 50 years, SA lost its last state game there.

Hobart Tigers have been around for 60+ years and whilst really struggling on the field currently they are the most financial club in the league. They are the favourites to stay.

The AFL Tasmanian executive reviewed the licence applications received last week, and have made their reccomendations to the AFL Tasmania board for a final decision

One club may survive to play on at the highest level but under the new "brand"

The other will lose its licence and will need to play in the second tier Southern Football League.

No I am NOT JOKING

I fail to understand how any of you blokes (and ladies) could deign to support that effing monster, given stories like what Phil has related above.

The day the SANFL morphs wholly into an AFL-controlled zombie is the day I stop following the sport.

Rucci will probably agree to it if it benefits Port Adelaide!
