Your club's best 21

Further from Dutchy's thread about whether or not the Gowans' Twins are in the Dogs' best 21, post in here what you think is your best side to put out on the park, being realistic about ling term injuries and form etc etc.

Based on knowing that a few players are unlikely to make it back from injury before finals, it would probably be something like this:

FF: J.Gowans - J.Hardy - T.Menzel
HF: J.Schiller - J.Lawton - C.Gowans
CL: K.Jenner - R.Williams - B.O'Hara
HB: B.Symes - T.Collier - E.Sansbury
FB: P.Marschall - Y.Sibenaler - P.Thomas

1R: J.Hannath - J.Boyd - T.Goodrem

INT: C.Milne - L.Habel - J.Templeton

With the likes of L.Barmby, J.Sutherland, A.Obst, A.Hayes, T.Dunne, J.Nash and B.Nason also coming back from injury, any of them could slot into the mix but haven't played a lot of footy this year. IF there were no injuries for the Dogs at all, I'd love to see Central's Reserves side, that would be a strong one !!!

That side above is what I see to be a more realistic team to participate in finals action.

FF: Warren, Jericho, Batsanis
HF: Phillips, Dawe, Cachia
C: Gallagher, Suckling, Aish
HB: Bode, Jonas, Terlich
B: Chippendale, Georgiou, Brown
R: Clarke, Zorsi, Webber
I:(from) Chippendale, Murphy, Jefferies, Smart, Reinbrecht, Evans, Grigg, L Thomas, Donohue, Kirwan, Langford, Archee, Hughes

Forget about the placing's, they are always determined by match-ups, conditions and particular strategies that vary from opposition to opposition.

Only AFL listed players I included are Jonas (who is probably doubtful) and Brown .. Would have to wait and see whether any of Pfeiffer, M. Thomas or Rodan qualify or have the interest in playing SANFL finals.

I think the Dogs potential in's look better than ours, provided they're fit and right to go .. It's not until I do an exercise like this that my guts sinks a little at the quality of players we won't be able to include this year.

Yep its already been another tough year for the Doggies due to a lot of injuries also with some of those keys out come september it will be an almighty challenge hopefully we can make another Grand Final.

F: Brad Fisher, Webb, Fielke
HF: Beech, Willits, Birss
C; Macreadie, Schmidt, Ben Fisher
HB: Green, Ferguson, Slattery
B: Caire, Tippett, Hartlett
1R: Lobbe, Crouch, Ezard
Int: F Caruso, N. Caruso, Laird

Emg: Hill, Bricknell, Silverlock, Nelson, Blesing.

Obviously Lobbe is probably not going to be available until the finals but I'd like to see Nelson given a go, leaving Webb at Full Forward for the whole game and Willits backup to Nelson. Would be some unlucky players for us as we have some good depth this season but we need everyone fit and firing to challenge Norwood and Central and to beat North, Glenelg or whoever else make up the 5.

F: Fitzgerald, Staple, Lane
HF: Ellis-Yolmen, Grocke, Rowntree
C: Knights, Lewis, Jarrad
HB:Kane, Thompson, McKenzie
B: Raymond, Grieger, Giuffreda

1R: Parry, Powell, Shirley

INT: Cicolella, Eddy, Shirley

I have included AFL listed talent, Knights, Ellis-Yolmen and Thompson because they have been and likely to continue to play the majority of their footy with the Eagles

Correct. Haven't included him because he has played about 10 minutes of footy in the last 2 months.

Salter would be a good chance to qualify wouldn't he? Does he make your best 21?

Big Phil, do North's too, us North supporters are too lazy to think about it.

He re-injured the foot he has had a couple of operations on already in the game against Sturt a fortnight ago...

Tim was a pre-game guest on LifeFM last Friday night, ahead of the clash against the Magpies, and said that he only expected to be out for another week or two.

Cool, I think the fella who mentioned it might of meant Matt Fuller.

Nice looking line-up but I think Troy Menzel will play a part of the Doggies line-up come finals time, IMHO...
