Round 13 - West v Norwood @ City Mazda Stadium (Sat 23/6)

The Bloods come off the bye with a home clash against the top of the table Redlegs. Norwood were fantastic in their demolition of the Bays yesterday so West will need to be at their best to be competitive. The home side will be desperate to respond from their last poor showing against the Dogs and will want to put in a better performance against the Redlegs than the last time the two sides met. The visitors will be keen to maintain their good form while Westies have to perform better against the top sides.

Broadcast Details - ABC TV from 2:00pm

A few weeks back I nominated this game as the danger game to end the Redleg's unbeaten run. Wrong !!!!!!!!!!!! but still a danger game because Norwood often play poorly at The Vortex.

Missing my second game in a row (bloody family function  ), but glad it is the ABC game. Hoping the bye has refreshed the players and they come out fighting and win by 9 points. Due to beat a top team and on our home deck hopefully this is the one.

Bloods challenge ‘Legs fans
Matt Turner From: The Messenger June 19, 2012 5:07PM

WEST Adelaide is issuing a challenge to Norwood fans ahead of this Saturday's home clash in the hope of drawing a crowd of about 4000.

The Bloods are offering two-for-one entry to any Redlegs supporter, so long as they present a promotional flyer at the Richmond Oval gate. The flyer has been posted on Norwood's Facebook page.

Bloods CEO Kym Russell, above, said the deal - a first from the club - was offered in a bid to maximise this week's attendance against the SANFL's ladder leader.

West has also promoted the game by letterboxing more than 2000 local residents and handing out brochures to businesses on Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Richmond Rd and Marion Rd.

"We're trying to do everything we can to get our supporters there and the Norwood supporters there to make it a great day and a great atmosphere," Russell said. "And we're particularly trying to get the opposition to come to our ground.

"(A crowd of) 4000 is what we'd like to get.

"Norwood are the top team and we want to be the top team so it's a great test for us."

West Adelaide is averaging about 2300 people to its home games this season - down about 20 per cent on last season's crowds.

But Russell said this week's game presented an opportunity to have a home-match attendance well above that figure.

"The Crows are playing in Melbourne on Sunday, there's no (AFL) footy in Adelaide - so come out and support your local club," he said.

Norwood will be issuing a similar challenge when West play at the Parade, we're hoping more than seven turn up next time.

Well done West Adelaide. I used to live right next to the ground in Albert Street Richmond and loved attending West v Norwood matches at Richmond. So get out there my fellow Leggies and watch us clean up the Bloods!
