Classy stuff by the ABC commentators taking the piss out of the boundary umpire from an under 18's game

Well done doggies! I was a bit concerned given some of our last quarter fade outs. Port always challenge us. Surprising where they are on the ladder. Harder, for them makes a difference, a costly injury earlier in the year.
Great last quarter by Justin hardy. Paul marschall, would he be a top ten pick? Boyd is critical for us and good to see Lawton back up last weeks game. Tom collier is a gun, I just hope selfishly, no one notices in the afl.
A pretty good game I thought, pretty hard at it both sides.

When the game was on the line we weren't good enough. Three passages of play killed us Thurgoods kick out was terrible, there was two players he could have kicked to that would have resulted in a kick to Cockshell by himself on the wing, Thurgood panicked and kicked to a two on one. In one of Ports last forward 50 enteries Young grabbed a ball from a team mate, panicked and handballed over his head, straight to a centrals player who ran the ball out of the 50. The other costly thing was a couple of minutes later, Wilson and Hardy were running towards each other with the ball between them on the edge of the centre square. Wilson pulled out of the contest, stepped to the side and let hardy get the ball who turned and kicked to a free player in Centrals forward line. Wilson the ran to the bench, where he should stay for a few weeks.

Spot on. That Wilson/Hardy moment was crucial, just glad it was our bloke who did the right thing.

People can say what they like about Jackson OBrien but his effort and contest in the north western pocket in the last quarter was all heart and determination. He may not be winning enough football as most or himself would like but his working from a very good base. Give this kid time and he will come good, it may include a bit of reserves football though but dont rule him off just yet. He also kept Summerton to six possies in the second half.

Very happy to get away with a win. Magpies were pretty good today!

I agree with Centurion's last comment. Got the win but skill level was poo. Just could not hit targets in the forward line today.

I wouldn't be ruling him out. Hayes, hoppy, goodrem all played a bit of reserves footy when they first moved over. Even scotty lee looked pretty average in his first dozen games. Fortunately I think theres some depth in the reserves to replace him, that will enable him to try to find form in the seconds.
Having the second least disposals (of both teams) yesterday with one mark, I wouldn't imagine would be enough. Yes, I know he had seven tackles, so this isn't something he needs to work on. It takes time to get use to the team structure and the pace of the sanfl and I hope he can become a premium midfielder for us.

Agree with all that. Some reserves football wont hurt him especially if given the oppurtunity to play a free role. I had a really good chat with him last night and he was saying he is playing a completely different role than his use to, playing alot deeper than he ever has. No doubt he wants to win more of the football.

I would much rather see a player with his attitude and defensive work rate than a bloke who can get 15 touches a game but doesnt offer anything the other way.

Jackson goes alright but with guys like Nason Sully and Nashy in the reserves it's time for a spell.
