We are pathetic and deserve to finish bottom. To have more scoring shots and lose by alm9st 50 points is deplorable.

An encouraging win vs a very experienced eagles line up, very impressed with Glenelgs youngsters today. Mules and Snook unlikely goal kickers but the Eagles terrible goal kicking in the first qtr was deplorable.

atrocious, pathetic, deplorable, frustrating, hopeless, inconsistent............no not the eagles but the magots, it would go close to the worst exhibition of umpiring ever! why do wwt continue to be given a ride? it started before the first bounce with a soft free given to an eagles player 40 metres out. How often does a game commence without the siren being blown? how can you pay a free kick for a trip when the opposition player is about 3 metres behind his opponent everyone else can see it except for the umpire? has holding the ball been thown out except when a player has three opponents all over him and has no chance to get it out? disgraceful is the only way of putting it! oh and another thing, why is adam grocke allowed to take an eternity to take his kick for goal - farcial!!

thought we had a host of good players, lynch, logan and rudolph spring to mind without thinking too hard, having less scoring shots and winning by 8 sausage rolls is karma is all i can say!

Only got there for the second half but thought the Eagles went way too wide with all their attacks forward, hence many of their points came from kicking out of the pockets. They had plenty of the ball as the scoring shots indicates however Glenelg looked more switched on and dangerous in attack.

Pretty happy esp with a few of our kids getting plenty of the ball against some big bodies.

And thanks to big Wazza for giving my 5yo a ball after the game, cant wipe the smile of his face!

Tell me a time when fans were happy with the umpiring?

They affect less than 5% of the game yet people continue to focus on them

You can look at it any way you like, but a loss is a loss and a loss by 47 points is significant. The bottom line was Glenelg were more efficient and at times when the game was on the line they had all the answers, as most sides have against the Eagles this year. The Eagles were smashed in the centre during that 2nd quarter and that was with all of our experienced players in the middle.

Goldsworthy and Sumner I thought were our two best. I thought Killian looked better than any of the other 2nd rucks we've tried this year. It is time to plan for 2013 and kick start by getting important game time in to the players that will take us forward while there is still experience around them.

The two reports were nothing more than the umpires fretting over some physicality and the umpiring for the entire game was diabolical. In general the Eagles may have got the better of it as well but the inconsistency and interpretations are a massive issue.

Well done Glenelg. The better side won. I thought Mules going forward was really handy for Glenelg.

Fans are happy when you don't notice them. The three out there today were awful.

Correct If they set the trend in the first quarter it makes the players think ohh they are on us today and it makes the players play better. But of late in VFL and AFL and from what I am reading from this forum it seems someone has told the umpires they need to be making more decisions and effecting the game. I much prefer when they are seen and not heard.

Aerie i wasn't able to get to the game today but I agree with your comment re that now is the time to try the players for next year. This season is gone and the sooner we acknowlege it the better. Did Killian go ok? If so he should be in the side for the rest of the year even if he is raw. Maybe time to try bring in Batley, Martyn and Joyce (even if the last two are with the Crows). We should ignore the fact that we are likely to lose. We should now be getting league game time into the second tier players. Also experimenting with players in positions they wouldn't normally play. Staple, Day, Hall would all be dropped if we had depth. As it doesn't much matter anymore they need to be dumped and remain in the reserves until they show some form, heart and willing to bust their guts for this club. Hall in particular has been very disappointing since his return and has shown he is unlikely to ever be a midfielder. He must be on the borderline of being told by Godden he is no longer required. The positives this season - I think Sumner has come along really well since the start of the year. He needs to keep it up to start next year strong. Despite goldsworthy being inconsistent I think he has what it takes to be a really good player. Raymond has been good. Shirley has really surprised me (in a good way) and has really got better with each game although this season will probably be his last. Does Godden play those who will retire at season's end? Cicca - great club servant but the club needs to move him on. Powell is probably on the verge of retirement. Parry will be a huge loss but not out of the question he will go as well. We know Macca is a certain out. No doubt it will be new look eagles side next year but I don't think we can't improve providing we go out hard and recruit.

Hope I see numb knuckles walking along Henley Beach this week, wearing his scarf as a noose....

Glenelg are a average mid table side, but the Eagles are just awful...Made Glenelg look like champions.

Happy with the win.

I think most sides would have beaten the Bays today ... The Eagles should have been at least 5 goals up at quarter time.

That said, the Bays won the game with 9 goals inthe 2nd and were never under threat from that point onwards.

The Eagles are easily the worst side I have seen this year and thoroughly deserve to be where they are.

They are gone and will struggle to not finish bottom.

Good to be back into the winning books but the Bays are a fair way off the mark at the moment and with a recent 3-4 win loss record with Norwood and Central in the next 2 weeks, a finals berth is far from assured.

How did the Eagles look in the first quarter and the second half of the third. In the first they'd had way more shots on goal and then they closed to within 16 points at three quarter time. That'd suggest they played at least some football, but no one has made mention of it yet.

I was feeling good about a 1-8 scoreline early by the Eags and ready to rip into them until my old age went and had a u-turn and dragged my memory me back to 1989 and I realised we took a whole game (all be it a GF!) to get that score!

Yes, dominated during some of those periods, but didn't make the most of it on the scoreboard. It gets tiresome being only good for parts of the game though and continuing to lose overall.

Hutring and gutted after today but glad the agony is over, we can finally forget about finals for this year.
The Eagles have given their small but loyal band of supporters a great ride over the past 13 years, missing the finals only once in that time (2008) and being second only to Central in that time for premierships and grand final appearances. It is now time to take stock and plan for the future.
There may be some unwanted records heading the Eagles way if they don't improve soon
-In the running for first ever wooden spoon as WWT. Also previous lowest ever position on laddder was 8th in 1995 (7-15)
- Heading for worst ever win/ loss record in club history. Previous worst 1997 with a 6-14 record under Bruce Winter.
Another unwanted scenario may be the loss of Chris Davies (CEO) back to Melbourne. He is being courted by both cricket and footy over there.
Glenelg too good today and good luck, you'll need it come September.
