Rnd 8 - Central v Glenelg @ Playford Alive Oval (Sat N 12/5)

The Doggies last played back on ANZAC Day and will be fresh after 2 games within 5 days. They do have a few players close to resuming from injury but that is likely to be through the reserves. The Bays were pretty disappointing last Friday night and certainly missed their skipper Ty Allen (who is no certainty to return for this game) so they will be keen to respond this week.

The Bays fans usually travel well to Elizabeth and with Central fans starved of seeing their side for a couple of weeks, I'd expect a pretty decent turn out to the Ponderosa for this one, weather permitting. You'd suspect the Dogs would go in as favourites but Kris Massie has had his side playing some good footy this year so it could be a close one.

Broadcast Details - 1197am 5RPH from 6:00pm (League game starts at 6:30pm - Reserves @ 3:45pm)

Pretty confident feeling about this game. Dogs have been slowly improving and dont lose to many night games at home.

What ill find interesting is to see if either sides preparation will give it an advantage at the start. Glenelg coming off a tough game against the leagues best while Central coming off what feels like a zillion days break. Will this give any side an advantage?

Dont think there will be to many changes to the Centrals line up with all the players coming back from injury more than likely to go through the 'dessies'

Should be a good crowd weather permitted between 4-4.5k

Central by 15-25 points (hopefully)

Yep, it is always good to see a strong contingent of vocal Snouts down to the right of the players race at the Ponderosa...

The only player that may come straight back into the League side from injury would be Kyle Jenner, perhaps? The Dogs may chose to bring Luke Habel in from the 2's as well?

The following players are likely to play in the Reserves for Central on Saturday afternoon, coming back from injury:

Jay Nash
Brayden O'Hara
Tom Dunne
Chad O'Sullivan
Corey Reichert

Include the likes of Scott Dutschke, Luke Habel (if not elevated to the League side), Damian Hynes, David Haydon, Josh Vater (if both dropped), Matthew Prior and Josh Waldhuter and the Doggies reserves are getting stronger, showing there is some depth slowly coming back into the club.

Agreed, although I thought Vater wasn't too bad against the Eagles.

Did O'Hara play amateur footy on the weekend?

Agree just think the other two are better at this stage. Probably wont matter anyway as no doubt we have had one or two players jag hamstrings over the last 97 days off. Thats the way its gone so far anyway.

Wouldn't have thought so?

If you are referring to a B.O'Hara running around for Flinders Park in the SAAFL on the weekend, I'm almost certain that is former North Adelaide and Eagles ruckman Brett O'Hara.

Yep Centrals have got players coming back over the next few months (like all clubs including mine) and they will be hit with more injuries (like all clubs including mine).

Most pointless thing to do in football - looking forward to a decrease in the injury list - as the nature of our game is that as players come off it others go on to it.

Only thing worth worrying about is who is available this week.

True but something Central have done better than most throughout this golden era has been getting players right at the right time of year. Didnt happen last year but in previous years Lairdy and the guys have managed to get nearly all players on the park leading into the finals.

Early wins definatly helps this by being able to take a more cautious approach with returing players lessening the risk of players re-injuring again.

Im glad we are now 3-2 instead of 2-3 or 1-4 otherwise Lairdy may have been forced to rush some these blokes back into the league side.

Its no surprise that a team like the Eagles last year won the flag compared to Norwood when looking at who they had in and out come late in the year but i agree all it takes is one contest and you could have another player on the long term injury list.

This post is a real puzzler

CD had this injury listing in the budget B4 thier last game vrs EG

Hayes
Dunne
Hay
Hynes
Milne
Obst
Ohara
Osullivan
Reichardt
Varcoe
Jenner

Varcoe is listed as out for the season
That leaves 10 other players who are likely to be available at some stage this season
At least 6 of those players are regulars

Im a betting man, Am Bays, and you are an expert in injuries maintenance of players etc etc
How about I betcha by finals time the CD injury list in the Budget will be less than 11

To say that CD will have more injuries than the current injury list, is a bizzare comment
Unless you are privy to the CD training procedures or whatever goes on in Ponderosaland, or you claim to be Nostraambayamus, I dont understand the rationality of your post

The reducing of any clubs injury list that is expansive is possible, in fact more than possible

And further from that, the quality of players returning to the side needs to come into consideration as well...

Any news on Pumpa ? I believe he played on ressies game but have not heard any updates since. He is also missing from the injury list on this thread.
