Eagles Going, Going, Gone

The Eagles are down and out and now all we are waiting for is the knockout punch that closes the door on the 2012 season. Now sitting 0-3 and looking likely to be without new skipper Luke Powell due to a long term knee injury. The season has gone from bad to worst and now a trip to Prospect to take on a resurgent Roosters who have now put their season back on track with a much needed win. The Eagles the only team without a win after 4 rounds have the competitions worst percentage.

Where to from here?

Well injuries do not help and maybe after playing finals for the last 15 years or so the wheel has finally turned Central are exactly in the same position and may possibly miss out this year as well !

Far too early to be writing any team off, especially the reigning premiers. If they still haven't won after Anzac day then there's cause for concern.

They've played 3 games  . These threads are just ridiculous , if it was 0-7 then that would be dangerous but after 3 games is a bit much.

Gross over reaction.
Eagles and Centrals will still be top 3.

Didnt think the Eags were too bad yesterday, their game style and big bodies are better suited to the slog in mid winter, with probably only Norwood being a certain finalist at this stage there is plenty of time for them to come good which I reckon they will.

As I posted elsewhere, I think the Eagles played a lot harder / better than either of Glenelg's other opponents thus far.

The premiership has given the Eagles footy dept. ( like all fans ) a slightly deluded view of what maybe possible beyond 2011. Treeby, Rimmington, Tiller and Allmond gave our 21, players that could pressure, intimidate and move to present options that would lead to good things happening down the field. In short they were hardnuts that have'nt been replaced and when you have a lack of busy tenacious ( quick ) midfielders already, well it does'nt take much to fall away as we've seen in all games including the trials! Godden must have had a little thought that this could be an issue as he snapped up Chris Kane to try an replace Treeby/Rimmo, but with only Eddy who is surely going to be at the very least solid, the recruiting is looking way off what can only be described as a squad that just has zero penetration against well organised opposition. Godden will be suprised even after 3 games just how hard it is to be the hunted every week and ironically it's Centrals who we match up with best, still! This can only turn around if we get 21 totally committed players and zero passengers ( no names yet  ). The gameplan can't change now so it's play some kids, take risks to score, keep Grieger in ruck with Parry, why not play McKenzie on the ball as really he's our ace in the hole FFS and I'd play Raymond along with him so as to drag the others in the midfield along too! This week Shirley gets Allen all game no rest no excuses! Goldy or Sumner inside 50 near Grocke and everyone else F--- off out and from there it's real simple.

No such thing as a certainty, good start but nothing more

Would be nice to string a few games together instead of this absurd draw we have been given.

No such thing, for patches today we looked like a div 5 amateur team.
Only takes a few injuries or to lose a couple on the trot and we could drop out.
The way the season has started it looks like only a game or 2 could be the differance between top or bottom. Very even comp this year

Thats probably because other club supporters haven't been bleating about it.
