Great spectacle for a neutral.
Thought the crowd was closer to 5,000.
Had a thoroughly enjoyable day, hopefully it becomes a regular fixture, i would definately attend again.

Agree on all fronts Jimbo, well done to the Panthers for initiating Good Friday Football.

Great to see early high scoring and some last 1/4 fight. Must have been a great game. Well done blues, unlucky south. Beat the dogs next week!

A very important win for Sturt for confidence reasons... going into the bye (yet again, well done SANFL sheesh) with 2 wins from 2 outings against teams we could be competing with for a 5th-7th placed finish is fantastic.

I'm disappointed for South though, have a soft spot for the Panthers and really want them to make the finals again, its only round three so plenty of time for them to get rolling... key now is for them to smash the Dogs! :-)

Was funny listening to some of the banter in the crowd tonight, one panther fan said he was sick of losing at this joint and hoped South played all away games next year.
South's home form does suprise me, I would have thought that with the wind and conditions down there that they have the biggest home ground advantage in the comp but everytime ive seen them down there they are disappointing.
Going to be hard to make finals if you struggle to win at home.

Great night at the footy. Fantastic atmosphere, good close game and all wrapped up in time to be home by 8:30.

Hats off to South Adelaide. No doubt they'd have been after another thousand through the gates, but given the food was all gone by half time, probably a good thing they didn't!

As for Sturt, let's hope we continue to be underestimated...

Yeah, sorry mate, it was the Double Blues...

That's what happens when you have about 4 different screens going at once, blogging here and there...

All fixed now, well done to both senior grades for the Sturt Football Club with good wins...

Great start to the season for Sturt although we weren't overly convincing against South last night we did enough to win in challenging conditions. I know it's our game style now (Rucciangelo :D ) but I though we bombed the ball far to long and high, far too many times. I thought South out marked us generally, and I was impressed with their hard ball gets and running link up passages. I'm all for direct football but I don't think the conditions really suited that last night, saying that, we won. My highlight was Charlie Sharples' mark on the western wing, what a cracker, and it's great to see him back playing SANFL.

Well done to the SAFC on having the courage to push for a stand alone Good Friday game, it could just as easily have failed but it's proven to be something to think about. I'm all for South keeping it as their own, maybe the novelty will wear off but I think it would be an absolute winner all the time if it was hosted as a twilight or night game closer to the city. As I said I wouldn't begrudge South keeping it, they deserve to.

Hickinbotham Oval.
Please don't take this as an attack it's merely some honest observances from a first timer, some will think that some of the points I will make petty and most probably are, as I said they are things that stood out to me.
I was impressed with the clubrooms and function centre (not that I could go in for a look) and the surface is in top nick. I can't say I'm a fan of the carparking situation, coming from a background of parking in a back street at a suburban ground I can't say I like having to pay to park in a dusty weed infested paddock with only two entrances to choose from, saying that it's only $5 but I think the SAFC need to open up more entrances especially on the southern end. Inside the ground, the traffic areas around the ground are terrible, there's bottle neck after bottle neck. Why would you build a new ground with no underground change rooms? Where you do have an above ground players race why would you have one of the biggest congregating areas right next to it making it nearly impossible to move north or south on the western wing? The "car horn" button after a goal is about as tolerable as the Rooster at Prospect, at least the rooster is funnier and I'm not a fan of the ground announcer yapping during the game after a South goal thought it was trying a bit too hard but really how can he and the "car horn" be so loud yet you can barely hear the siren?

All in all the SAFC are carving out a great area down south and I'd say that the room for growth is massive. Well done. And..............
GO YOU DOUBLE BLUES!!!!

Definately has potential but has struggled a bit in his two games I thinnk. Has done some good stuff but also some basic skill errors , a way to go yet . There is a bit of pressure on for spots at Sturt at the moment , not sure how long he'll hold his spot if that pressure is maintained.
