South supporters will be celebrating hard tonight after that win. They were not that impressive apart from the last 15 mins of the game but to their credit their last 1/4 was full of desperation, hard running and team commitment. Thats what wins close games of footy. Pity the same couldn't be said for the opposition in that time.

Least it was an open game, south got a lot of goals quite simply by kicking the ball over the packs and using their pace to advantage and running into an open goal, Also to have a focal point that kicked 7 was a big winner, from what i saw he had the same opponent all day.

No doubt a point will be made by some that South got 5 goals in the last stanza from frees, well if you put your body over the ball and are committed the umpires should reward you and probably in 3 of the 5 goals they got the decisions were right.

North's lack of pace down back was a real worry and not sure where they will get the pace from for the rest of the year.

Overall, a good game of footy, skills of both sides well down, closenest of the scores kept it interesting, on what I saw today however, alot of improvement is needed from both sides if they are to make the finals but of course only early days in the season.

Well, going by my pre match prediction, I was wrong, and I am big enough to admit it. I was drunk by quarter time! North started well, but still surrendered a handy lead to south. Fought back and was "comfortably" in front at three quarter time. South wanted it a lot more in the last, against a slight breeze, to win it.
In short, as usual, north showed some promise, but again failed to deliver. Well done south, you wanted it more than we did.

one major difference for south in that last quarter was that their did not just bomb the ball long inside 50 which was what was happening for almost the entire 2nd and 3rd quarter.

Ther only thing more disappointing than North's last 1/4 fade out was the gutless act of a South supporter in the 3rd 1/4 in front of the pavilion. There had been a bit of banter going on for most of the 1/4, all of a sudden the mouthiest of the 2 groups charged towards a bloke in neutral colours, "coat hangering" him dragging him backwards down the slope, the victim stumbled backwards falling and hitting his head on the pavement, he was instantly unconcious, the perpetrator took one look turned and was still running as he left the ground, I hope those that were taking pic's got a good shot of you, I for one wont forget your face for a long time.

as for the footy, well done South, you were hungrier and wanted it more when it counted, North, we don't want another year of "nearly good enough"!!

Weird. We must be the first team in history to be on the bottom of the ladder before we've unveiled the premiership flag!

Those security guys are totally useless and gutless. They are usually big fat pricks on an ego trip but when you need them and they need to put themselves on the line and earn their money they run the other way.

Fantastic day for us South supporters.

Its been a long time coming since we won at Prospect and to see South come from behind (think we were 16 points down @ 3/4 time ??) and win it in the last 1/4 was most pleasing.

Ainger kicking 7 goals is exactly what we have been looking for from this guy!! Amazing game and strong marking. Great to see. :)

Loved McKernan in the side as it gives us a target and seeing him back in our side makes a huge difference.

Liddle played well and had a good battle with the North onballers. Stribling playing his old side really showed what a 'Class" act he is.
Thought our defence in the last 1/4 held up very well when the pressure was on with North going into their forward 50m. Crabb, Thewlis (will get better with more games under his belt) etc...

One thing North lacked was the word "discipline" in the last 1/4. When the pressure was on them they were more interested in playing the man and doing some off the ball type stuff. Totally lost the game for them. I also think South were more "fitter" than North and seemed to run out the game. (it would have been warm out there).

A great win but now the focus is on Sturt for the Good Friday clash.....Bring on Friday!!!! (See you there Clarrie ;) )
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

1. Congrats South on a good tough effort.
2. Where was South's fitness after half time last week. ;)
3. Weak as P*SS North
- You dont lose on your home deck against sides like South, especially when you're up by 15 points at 3/4 time and coming home with a breeze worth at least 3 goals minimum

Good recruiting over the last few seasons is beginning to pay dividends for South, 7 goals out of ex ACT player Ainger was a good effort, liked the way we were able to move the ball around the packs and win possessions from North. Clearly first round form can be deceiving, yet North seemed almost disinterested at times today. South may well have kicked goals from free kicks yet several of Souths frees were well deserved and came from undisciplined low rent play from North. Again its only round one, yet its fair to say that more is expected from Francou from the coaching box next week against Glenelg.
