Four or five years ago we were top after about 8 rounds, then we lost to West, who were bottom at the time, at Alberton and we never recovered

Great start to the season. Sounded like we dominated the clearances even though Parry apparently had most of the hitouts.

Port were really good.

We were shocking, reminded me of the game against Sturt last year.

Only glimmer of hope was when some of the sprinklers came on in the last quarter, but we couldn't even get that sabotage right.

Lights were excellent.

Time clock was a laser green, burnt my eyeballs , may take legal action. 20 degrees increase in incline and we would have brought a few planes crashing to the earth.

A night to forget for the WWTFC.

Great win to start the year for port!

Controlled the game from start to finish, and apart from little lapses in the 2nd and 4th were all over WWT.

What impressed me tonight was our tackling pressure coming out of our fwd half and our backline taking every opportunity to move the ball quickly to one on one contest up forward. It is a high risk high reward game style that certainly came off tonight.

Harder was sensational i thought for us, uses his body well and has a brilliant penetrating kick. Thurgood was another one who impressed with some great chase down tackles in the 1st and 2nd. Our midfield controlled the stoppages and Dolling in his 100th mopped up anything that came his way down back.

Very few contributors for the Eagles in what was a disappointing night, but wouldnt write them off just yet.

Go the Maggies!

Has the place improved?
Used to be my least preferred ground to visit in the comp, always thought Alberton was better to visit thats how much i hated the place.
Woodville is a decent enough setup, hope the Eagles dont play any more at Thebby.

Banner started very well, had 3 by half way through the 2nd but drifted out of the game as the night wore on i thought.

Got there at the start of the last qtr for the ressies and really didnt pay much attention tbh.

I was expecting more but we have had bloody ordinary weather the last couple of days compared to the last few months so that's still a damn good crowd. Not a lot of publicity, etc either.
At this stage Thebby averages the biggest crowds in the state, there should be more games there! :D

Gratz to Port, I somehow expected this result but not sure why, Port look the real deal this year.

Did you think? Whereabouts were you watching from?

From the N-W pocket the centre square looked very dark, and the outer wing almost pitch black...

Port were good tonight but for all of that the Eagles were very ordinary. Some promising trial form and a win in round 1 does not mean that Port are the real deal. They will certainly be big improvers but only time will tell.

I was on the outer wing and also thought the lights were excellent and superior to Richmond, Elizabeth and Noarlunga.
