I'll create threads like this for all clubs starting with last year's wooden spooner. These threads are for discussion on individual club's prospects in 2012.
Most people are picking Sturt to be bottom 3. Had a weird season last year with 3 wins agains North Adelaide and one each over the Eagles and West and 44.5%.
They have a horrible draw playing Central, Norwood and Eagles 3 times each with 2 of the games against the Dogs at Elizabeth.
Does anyone think they can surprise or are they destined to be near the bottom again?
Will Seamus Moloney help or hinder them?

Good idea Wedgie.

I find Sturt hard to predict. I think Jenkins and Kerridge will be good pick ups and play probably the entire year. The new coach may just get more out of the returning players. I understand that he will be quite different in style to Luke Norman which I would view as a plus. Still have a good midfield (two Magarey medalists) which on their day rate highly. Draw is tough. Possibly bottom 3.

Jenkins yes, but Kerridge will play more games for the Crows, it is why he was left until pick 10 as the Crows were telling the SANFL clubs who rang them before the mini-draft, to determine who they should pick, that they expect Kerridge to play Rd 1. Probably means Sturt will see a full year out of Tambling.

Sturt will have up to 11 AFL players that will come in and out of the Sturt team and either Port or Crows.

I honestly reckon Sturt will finish in the 5 - 7 range this year.

We have a strong forward line and mid field but our achilles is our defence. Two players would really make all the difference - Michael Coad and Scott McGlone. We just haven't been able to fill their shoes. McLeay and Plant have the physique of Coad but not the ability. Joe Anderson has done a reasonable job and seems to have a lot of time when he has the ball, just like McGlone used to. I hope he takes another step this season.

I look forward to seeing Fraser Evans shine this year and expect Tom Hurley and Tim McIntyre to also lift. Would also like to see Sheedy given greater opportunity to play forward.

Craig Evans, John Hinge and John McDonald will all have to show better form than last year, or expect to be playing plenty of footy in the 2's.

With the likes of Brodie Martin, Richard Tambling, Chad Wingard, Matt Jaensch also likely to play quite a few games, I think we'll surprise a lot of people...

Hope I'm right. Regardless, I can't wait for the season to start! .

CC have you seen the trails, there are a couple of lads in the reserves from Sydney Hartland and Brakin. How have they gone?

Talking to Fraser Evans Dad the other week and it is Frasers first full preseason ever without injury so looking forward to a big year.

I really enjoy watching Fraser play and have kept a close eye on him over the last couple of seasons, watching him progress through the ressies to play some good league football.

I think he will be a very good footballer, has a nice set of hands, a lovely left foot kick and generally uses it well, who will no doubt be important for the Double Blues this season.

I think we'll be vying for a top 8 position this year! Come ON!

He has a way to go yet has potential . He hasn't played a "good ' game yet but hopefully this year he will gain confidence .Great kick.

He's bulked up a fair bit from last year and I hope he'll have a blinder.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen a trial (and won't be able to) so my first taste of what we're really like will be against the Magpies in our first game.

Very very interested to see how Sam Kerridge goes. Heard some good things about him and if he is a better pick up than Alex Forster in the draft he must be real good.

I think any position above 9th will be a bonus for Sturt. Titanic struggle with West for the spoon.

A few good recruits by Sturt no loss with any impact plus the natural improvement of youngsters will see Sturt improve .Sturt had no losses to cover so, hello ...........

Yeah I reckon Sturt will improve, problem is it looks a real traffic jam from 9th-5th, so how much can that improvement lift them ladderwise??

I really wouldn't be surprised if they finished in any of the positions in that range I mentioned.
