Hearing that the half time mini-league might be in trouble and may not continue due to lack of spon$orship...

I hope it survives, I'm sure many of us on here, myself included, have fond memories of playing mini-league for our favourite club...

Who was the main sponsor that has pulled out? Coke or CrapDonalds? Poor form if this is the case as they bastardized the geurnseys with the away team having to wear their crap jumper.

If this State Government can pull funding from a worthwhile entity like Innovate SA, they'll pull funding from anywhere. After all, they've now got to pay for Mike Rann's Gold Watch, Office, car, secretary, PA, phone bill, flights, accommodation, ....

Was definately Savings and Loans that were Mini-League sponsors when my kids played at West Adelaide last year.

Savings and Loans no longer exists. Merged with Australian Central to become Peoples Choice.

Savings & Loans did indeed sponsor it last year.

From my knowledge at this stage there isn't a sponsor like there has been the past couple of years.

However as far as I know, the mini league games will continue, the SANFL clubs will run the comp as they do now, and just use either the clubs junior jumpers or school jumpers.

This has happened before, the SA Government jumped in and did it under the "be active" banner.

A little while to go yet until the season starts so keep the faith.

well done IGA but its pretty sad that the SANFL is unable to afford it if there was no sponsorship. Perhaps we need more pokies :D

Anyone listen to this unfold on 5AA this morning?

Giniver was hinting all morning that he was go to find an answer, but at the same time saying how bad it was and getting interviews with Shaun Rehn etc and then BANG at 8.55am the phone call comes thru that IGA will sponsor it. A company that already sponsors the family friendly area at teh SANFL grounds, are you telling me the SANFL didnt approach them as a current sponsor for the league to take on or contribute to the mini league costs?

Great that they have saved it but either 5AA or SANFL or both are trying to bluff the public in the sake of publicity.

It costs about $40k from my understanding to run the mini-league each year and the SANFL has had to increase its funding to ABC tv coverage by about $25k. Interesting figures.
