For the first time in years, I wasn't able to attend the AGM and put my 2 cents in about how the club has been performing and what decisions it has made. I'd be interested if someone could give a run down on exactly what happened, what the financial report consisted of and whether there was much discussion about Norman's sacking and how they picked Maloney? I'm particularly interested whether anyone quizzed the club on due diligence with respect to that appointment?

There was a sigh of relief when they worked out the annoying bloke from years gone by wasn't there.

It's all been well covered on doubleblue.org. Seamus took time out from training to come across and speak to the members. He's an excellent choice as senior coach and the entire club is fully behind him. End of story.

I won't be as bold and say Sturt made the right choice until I see us play etc. I will say Sturt made the right decision in replacing Norman and doing it at the end of the season . Very unsettling sacking coaches mid year .

Seamus spoke very well and the club is being quite pro active in reducing debt .

Yeah but this isn't doubleblue.org, so I've got no idea what's been said on there... that said, saying things like "entire club is fully behind him, end of story" doesn't mean anything.

While I've got nothing against Seamus, I'm interested in how the choice was made. If the club did some due diligence and he was the best candidate for "these" reasons, then fine, but if they appointed him without looking around, I'd be a tad disappointed. A professional club, like Sturt, would surely seek out a few candidates, assess them and decide from there. My concern is the club may have just decided to appoint him based on dollars, without speaking to anyone else.

If the financials weren't tabled, then that's piss poor. The AGM was moved from December to February (with support from the membership, voted on last season) for the sole reason of ensuring the financials could be tabled.

If they weren't, geez, that's pretty crap.

No financials ??? Is that constitutional ?
Thought the whole idea of an AGM is to present a report on the club and surely finance is the number 1 issue. How can you vote for someone without knowing the performance ?

Hard to argue with any of the negative points made here. A disappointing performance by the board to go along with the awful on-field performance last year.

CS, after previous dealings with you I really don't want to become involved with your idiosyncrasies however, without going into specific details, the club did go through a process of due diligence in seeking a replacement for Normo, and other people were looked at for the job. The club chose to appoint Seamus. Read into it what you want. Every individual, company or club has the right to not publicize every minor detail of their dealings be it for their own privacy or for that of others. Doesn't mean that there's a conspiracy or bastardry going on.
Can't help but think that you feel embittered concerning the club.
That's all I'm going to add to this.

I believe once the decision was made to move on from Normo, the position was narrowed down to two other candidates. One was from outside of SA.
