Postby PhilH » Wed Jan 18, 2012 4:00 pm

The Eagles have secured a new captain, at least for their T20 challenge against the WDCC on Feb 15th

Phil, this new ground at St Clair, is that going to be the new base for Woodville District Cricket Club, or do they stay at Woodville and use this as a 2nd ground?

Magpies 96, In all honesty I do not know but I would say the later. Currently facilities at Woodville (Unleash Solar) are far superior for the Peckers with two story clubrooms, covered grandstands and nets off the oval.

It will eventually become Woodville's second ground. With Mikey Rann's TOD at the Woodville Station to take over the current oval. However, the last satellite photo I saw of the new oval it is significantly smaller than the old one and Change rooms were no where in sight :?

Agreed the current facilities at St Clair need some TLC but surely it would be a step backward for the Cricket club/Soccer Clubs?? that use the oval.

Looks like the Eagles CEO has pulled some strings from his former job to recruit some well respected cricket talent.

Went for a wander around the new St Clair area just before christmas, the oval area looked huge to me I wasnt expecting it to be as big, but maybe its deceptive as it has no fence. They have closed off a portion of Actil avenue from where it meets brocas avenue behind Woody High to about 100 or so meters from the train line and new changerooms are being built in the back corner of the oval behind the school where it meets with the existing oval (over the mound). I assume they will link to the new ovals with a new grassed area now that the road is closed. Looks like enough space for at least a full size footy and cricket oval and a soccer pitch.
Trust the process.

As far as I know St Clair has the clubs 2nd oval used for the C and D grade teams with Fortress Unless Solar used for grades A and B.

St Clair has been used as the WDCC C/D grade ground for many years, and will continue to do so with the new development. The club has invested plenty of time and money into Woodville Oval (its only uneash solar oval in winter to me), with new nets and changerooms, as well as the clubrooms being located at the ground also.

I hope this clears any confusion up.
Go WDCC an WWTFC
