Admission Prices Rise again

I know most of us get season/home match tickets which are fantastic value but for the casual supporters that rock up and pay at the gate it'll be $14 for adult admission in 2012. (Concession $8)
IMHO this is too high and should have been capped at $10 at the most.
Pay for entry and one beer and people will be over $20 down already.
It's just starting to get into that bracket that people will psychologically think its dear and possibly not go.
Less people at games means less money spent on food, drink, merchandise, membership, etc means less income despite charging more.
Counter productive IMHO.

Wasn't it only $8 as recently as 4 (?) years ago? This price rise is clearly well ahead of inflation.

Usually if the gate prices go up, membership prices do too....

Part of the appeal has always been how much more affordable SANFL is for a family compared to other ways to spend a day together. If we keep upping the prices then we'll lose that valuable selling point.

North's Full Season membership has gone up $25 ($125 to $150) still great value, only an extra $25 for 20 games

Membership with no ticket is $70, for another $80 you get all matches as well, $4 a game is a bargain!!

Doesn't really affect me but agree that it's a bad move ...

The product is arguably becoming inferior
And yet the admission is rising steeply
Not good timing
Im with Dedja, it wont affect me much, but a bad move
Agree with the opening thread post as well

The regulars will mostly prob keep going
Trying to entice newies at $14 could be a stapler in a haystack

For the diehards it wont change a thing. For the bits and pieces supporter it becomes comparable to an AFL ticket and gives more people reasons to stay away.

I am most definitely a bits and pieces supporter, I go to games that suit my schedule regardless of who is playing. For example I have seen more Friday night footy at Richmond in the last couple years than games at the Parade. Its the same for games at Adelaide Oval.

However its the change in mentality. $12 is $10 to the mind and $14 is $15, which is only 4 or 5 bucks less than an AFL ticket. That's my thinking straight away, not that I ever bother going all the way to AAMI Stadium.

Bad move IMO.

Was any justification made for the increase?

It seems there has been a price increase every year for the last few years. I buy a season ticket to the Eagles, but have been reluctant to fork out extra cash to see games not involving the Eagles since these price increases. I use to go to half a dozen extra games a year, now only one or two at the most. The SANFL should work out other ways of making money as opposed go just raising entrance fees as this will have an effect on crowds.

Just proves yet again how the SANFL have lost touch with reality and appear not to be acting in the interests of the clubs and the average football supporter.
I smell yet another AFL conspiracy !

I have no doubt that the SANFL like most other businesses would be facing increases in costs that affect their bottom line .. Would have hoped they could have worn a bit of reduced margin, but I reckon they would be fairly close to the line, and they don't believe they can afford to cop a hit on this.

It's a shame because I have no doubt it will impact on attendances, and they need to be careful because any losses in numbers might see those punters gone for good .. Especially given that the two local AFL clubs will experience a resurgence sometime in the near(ish) future, and that will likely diminish local crowds also.

Can't see this being in the SANFL competition's best interest in the longer term.

I agree with Wedgie, SANFL football should be no more than $10.

Agreed. I think $10 is in favour of the paying public, $12 reasonable and $14 on the wrong side of fair.

I dont see this increase breaking people, the next one will if it hits $16...or more.

Agree Booney. $10 is good value for the paying public, especially when trying to increase crowds. It's not as though we are packing out grounds and therefore being able to add a bit of a premium like the AFL have over the last 10 years.

Have to be aimed at slyly reducing losses/debt. Whether this is to appease the AFL or not, who knows.

$10 for minor round, $15 for finals double header, $25 for GF.

WAFL in 2011 was $15 with a budget included.
VFL was $10 when I last went in 2010.
