Think the SANFL really stuffed up the chance to begin the season with a high attendance at a night game this season.

...and so they should. Fair to say that sacrificing an Alberton game in round 1 cost them a victory - and by extension a finals position.

Tripe. Alberton is nowhere near the imposing venue it once was for visiting clubs. We threw away 4-5 games this year that we should have won, 3 at Alberton.

Never, never, never, degrading to our comp. Two separate footy comps that stand alone, imagine the response from the Southern or Greater Southern Footy Leagues to play curtain raiser to SANFL games, they'd tell ya to shove it and rightly so just as SANFL clubs should to any further suggestion of curtain raisers.

Alberton need only have conferred a six point advantage to the home team for it to have made a difference to the result in round 1. Alberton may not be "imposing" any more, but I contend that it is worth at least six points.

Quite like the idea of SANFL / AFL double headers.

Port v Sturt then Port v Carlton at AO. Works for me! :D

If Norwood had not pulled the pin on season 2011 two weeks before the end of the minor round, South dont beat them, Maggies play finals. Many, many variables to both arguments.

SANFL matches should not be curtain raisers to anything on principle

If an Eagles player didn't pull a goal from his arse late in a night game at Nourlunga, South play finals.....FFS

Surely the Foxtel cup cost Port a finals spot.

Undoubtedly.

Plus failing to play Claremont at Alberton cost Port the Foxtel Cup.

No, no, no...

We can get 5,000+ at games if scheduled right, no need for curtain raisers at AAMI being played at 10.30 in the morning.
