Last year it took till nearly christmas early January this year for the fixtures to be released. i hope and i am sure fellow supporters would like to see the draw come out early this year... bugger the AFL FOXTEL cup etc....
Why cant we just throw our fixtures out.... for some of us who live interstate and may wanna come home to see a local game or 2 at least we can plan our schedule..
Any thoughts??

Yes, I agree, the sooner the draw comes out*, the better.

Main hold up last year was Foxtel Cup related I believe. Think the organization of that should be sorted better this time around. When has draw been released in previous years - late November?

I think finals should be seriously re-organised though....

Initially, the SANFL tried to schedule the finals matches only on Saturday if it did not clash with the Crows or the AFL Grand Final. The Preliminary for a number of years was on the Sunday to avoid the Grand Final, but was changed after 1993 to try and stop the one sided nature of the Grand Finals past.

The last couple of times finals matches have been played on a Saturday were the first week of the 1998 finals series (a crowd of 12,065 saw Port/Central and Norwood/West). The Crows played that night in Sydney. And the first week of the 2000 finals series (15,539 saw Sturt/Norwood and Port/Central).

I do believe it is time for the preliminary final to be played on a Friday night (to avoid the AFL Grand Final on the Saturday); and the Grand Final on the Saturday. It is pure crap that people cannot enjoy the celebrations for longer due to the fact they have to go to work the following day. If the weekend is the long weekend, then you have two days to enjoy. And another possible eliminator for some fans to attend will be avoided - the telecast of Bathurst.

Given the poor finals attendances at Football Park, I think the time has come to shift the finals to a suburban ground or two, except for the Grand Final.

Have to agree with that, the SANFL have done it damage by allowing the denigration of Football Park to promote the Adelaide Oval concept for the redevelopment. Think early rounds of the Finals should be at Thebarton for this season.

Interesting, Sojourner, and I tend to agree that playing them at one or two of the better home grounds even, or at Thebby, would be a good concept.

Going the way of Thebarton Oval at least keeps it neutral, home ground advantage for Finals is maybe not the direction I would like to see the SANFL go as yet!
