Looks like finally the SANFL GF will have some decent entertainment pre match. Clearwater are playing and they are a fantastic local band . Hooray for getting rid of the embarassing acts that have beenn doing it for years . People want something to get into the mood with and a popular covers band wilL do exactly that and they are wanting to get the crowd involved so that should make for a great atmosphere to start with. Great stuff IMO.

I used to like the dancing girls from all the clubs come out and show their stuff. It added a bit of colour to the day. Anyone know why this was stopped a few years ago?

I quite like the idea of Clearway, but why not be ambitious and try and get a major local act like Hilltop Hoods? Reckon that would draw in up to 5k more and would certainly top the AFL!

Really you believe if Hilltop Hoods played around a half an hour set before a football match 5k extra would attend at $30 each adult.

imho some people put too much emphasis on pre match entertainment.

SERIOUS QUESTION

How many people on here have gone to a sporting event they ordinarilly wouldnt because of who was the pre match entertainment?

Hopefully not too many attendees at the AFL Grand Final.

Yep. Got Clipsal tickets years ago and only went for the last hour of the race to get a good spot to see Ian Moss.

In fairness car racing events definatly attract people that just go to the concert BUT also you can buy just a ticket for the concert afterwards and the concerts are generally full sets from each act.

Unfortunately people will compare pre game entertainment to the AFL GF and you want something a little bit more mainstream than what we have had recently. I sat with some people in 09 who are more AFL than SANFL and they laughed at the pre game entertainment , so you don't want to cheapen the brand is my point.

Absolutely they would, they would be plenty of people undecided on whether to attend and seeing a local international act like that might get them along as part of the whole days entertainment, for $30 thats a bloody good day out compared to some other entertainment.

What would be the appearance fee for Hilltop Hoods though?

I don't think the SANFL would be able to afford it but being Sturt fans, you would hope the HH boys would consider it if asked.

I know my brother would attend the GF if they were playing, even though he doesn't have a huge interest in SANFL footy.

But I get what you are saying Dutchy.
