West Adelaide going after Brendan Fevola

COLEMAN Medallist Brendan Fevola could make a shock SANFL appearance next year, with West Adelaide considering an audacious bid for the former Carlton spearhead.

Fevola, who booted 69 goals for VFL side Casey Scorpions this year, last week hinted a move to Richmond was on the cards if an offer was "healthy enough to leave Melbourne".

Lining up with former Blues team-mates Brad Fisher and Adam Hartlett is also a major attraction for the 30-year-old.

Bloods coach Andrew Collins, on the hunt for a genuine full forward, indicated Fevola would fit in nicely at City Mazda Stadium.

Believe it when I see him pull on the jumper, but yes Bloods go for it!

Problem with having a full forward at West is that you still have to kick it to him. Kicking it around the half back flank will not kick you goals.
Collins couldnt change Cupido and wont change Fev.
Sounds like a last chance call by the coach to me.
Maybe West could free up some space in the salary cape by moving out their youth and bringing in more Victorians.:
shock:

We will continue to move out our youth. They go to Collingwood, Richmond, West Coast.....transfer fees then provide a budget to recruit top line players to make up our side with non-drafted locals. If you check the stats you will find we have had more juniors drafted to interstate clubs than nearly anyone over last few years. Eagles on the other hand have had a heap get drafted by local clubs and still be available occasionally. Our mix of juniors to recruits is still very similar to others in the comp.

Would be great for the comp and would kick goals.

Only thing i would be slightly worried about if i was a West fan is the comment 'if it was a healthy enough offer' this line keeps getting mentioned and to be honest the last thing Fevola should be worried about when choosing his next football career move is money, would think there be a lot higher priority issues going on in his world at the moment.

Good Luck Westies... :D

Hope he can pass some of the great mans' knowledge on to the youngsters.

Worth the investment. :D

Go for it. Definately a plus for our comp. :D

He may kick 50 goals here ;)

Dont think that we can still say that all of our youth is drafted away. May have been the case years ago but I think we are on par with most SANFL clubs now.

Would definitely bring interest to Westies and the competition. Might end in tears but also could be good for the comp. Not many Full Forwards in the country better than Fevola. Finger crossed if he does go to West he doesn't end up at full back like Cupido did!

Will be great for the comp.but after a while dont let the bloke stand there and freeze.I felt sorry for Ryan Bennett a couple of years ago waiting for the ball to move into the forward line and then have just him vs. 2 or 3 defenders.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate if Fev played for the bays then? Especially if you know who gets the coaching gig. ;)

My advice for FIGvola
Dont come over
Higher profiled players with good AFL careers have good reason not play in the SANFL
If they dont perform they too often get ridiculed by the South Australian public

Seen it too often in recent years
For example
Chad Cornes
Nathan Eagleton
Damian Cupido
All very good players in thier AFL careers
They play in the SANFL and cop the taunts and barbs from the crowds
These types of players cop it in the Football forums as well

As SANFL football patrons we dont deserve these players until the attitudes of some SANFL followers improves
Ive observed Nathan Eagleton cop it sweet after an average 2011 season
Nathan has played a million games , and quite well in the AFL, and copped a barrage of criticism for his underachieving season in the SANFL [You would think he was an axe murderer with all the flak he cops]
Ive been to a GL game where some of the crowd gave Chad Cornes a hard time[and his father was in the vicinity watching his son]
Chad has been a magnificent AFL footballer, injuries and age had caught up with thim, no respect when people havago at him
Ive heard and read and seen the jibes about Damian Cupido when he played in SA
OK Damian copped some criticism for his soild appearance, perhaps he should expect some falk for that, but I would prefer to remember his magnificent kicking from defence

Brendan FIGvola
A sensational AFL footballer for most of his career until he Bingled and bungled his was into trouble
Heez been thru too much, he wont come to play in the SANFL [if he is smart]

Didn't realise the crowd taunting was so effective. Might have to increase it some....

I definately wouldn't classify Cupido as a very good AFL player.

Perfect place for Fevola to go to.

Westies are renowned for having a no-punting no-drinking culture. :D
