Under their skin !

There is an article in today's Age titled " Adelaide's past, Footy's Future " that contains an interesting quote. All SANFL fans take heed and spread the word !
" They ( SA Footy fans ) can seem precious and pleased with themselves at times, the Croweaters. They've always asserted that their state's football was scarcely inferior to Victoria's, however self deluding and laughable this might appear to anyone east of Bordertown. As the expanding VFL threatened to consume their football in the late 1980's, The South Australian's fought , to a punctilious fault, for self determination. They continue to this day, to be a tough nut for even Andrew Demetriou and his team to crack. "

Funny, I've always found the Victorian claims that their comp's reserves was about our standard laughable.

Is this the same Tim Lane that refused to commentate with Eddie then formed the Carlton Cheer Squad at Channel 10
Wouldn't read too much into it - he as about as much integrity as Robert Mugabe.

Interesting that Tim Lane would say that considering how much of a proud Tasmanian he is. Each to their own I guess.

"That's funny Jeff. They tried to get me there for three years to replace you! "

What a legend!

Tim Lane wasn't an office bearer at Carlton like Eddie was at Collingwood, it's a subtle distinction that you can get someone to explain to you.
Comparing Tim Lane to Robert Mugabe is just sad.

Indeed. Mugabe had a few issues, like being a single-minded megalomaniac who usurped the land rights of many of his citizens while pissing his contry's economy far up the wall, but it really is hyperbolic to suggest that he has the integrity of Tim Lane.

We all accuse journalists of "cherry picking" a line or paragraph to misrepresent what was said.
Have any of you looked beyond rampant hysteria and actually read the article?

Thought it was a great article, finally a Victorian scribe attempting to understand and communicate SA's rich football history future and mindset. Over look the quick jab to the ribs here and there, which is always expected and I think it's pretty fair.
