Terrible game all round. Centrals were terrible, North weren't much better, umpiring (for both sides) was appalling (if any of the three idiots out there today are umpiring finals there's problems). Centrals lucky to win - terrible forward entries, terrible accuracy at goals.

Good thing is we end up 3 games clear on top of the ladder and go into finals on a winning streak, but that's all academic.

Also, for the third time in five seasons, Centrals go through the season undefeated at home.

North certainly finished the season with a wet sail, clearly being the form team of the bottom four and perhaps unlucky not to sneak into fifth spot.

D'you think they might have made it if they had not been distracted earlier in the season by participation in the Foxtel Cup?

Foxtel cup was a positve for roosters - got them a win when things were against them - The 2nd win really helped their confidence. Think the cup was good for Francou and roosters.

For a game that really meant nothing to the dogs it was a fascinating game. At 1/4 time it looked a similar reult to the reserves was a chance bar some terrible finishing. North seemed to get hardly any ball in the second yet capitalised on every chance to really be in it. The third quarter was fairly even and I thought a 3 goal lead, even into the wind, would probably be enough. Then we wrapped Havelberg in cotton wool, our forward structure went to crap and North really got plenty of the ball. At one stage they looked like running away with it, but the dogs got control of the play again but with North in front needed to score but couldn't find a good option up forward. Then all of a sudden the ball pops to Callinan who runs into an open goal and finishes the game.

Turns out neither side were going to gain or lose much from the result. North couldn't get past South with a win to make the 5 and the dogs had locked top spot. However, the report of Sutherland and the injury to Dunne are clearly the issues out of this game. From my vantage point 100 metres away I thought Sutherland got into the side of the shoulder. If that's the case, he should be ok. If he got him in the head he'll get a suspension. 1 or 2 weeks, depends on the points, carry over, discounts etc etc etc. If he gets suspended, we have no obvious option. This could be massive. 2 weeks could be all the dogs have left this year, so a 2 week suspension could be year over for Sutherland. Milne wasn't in great form anyway but he's done a shoulder and I think had been iced for the season. Hardy has rucked before but with no Sibenaler, Hardy is the only big strong defender we have to match up Bown and Grocke. I doubt Roy will want to expose a Templeton, Hayes or Reichert to a matchup with the bigger Norwood or WWT forwards. This leaves the very real possibility the dogs might call up a debut ruckman for the second semi and potentially a grand final. Bottin-Noonan and Claughton have looked solid enough from what I've seen but it's always risky. Roy might even go the rabbit/hat option and go with 1 recognised ruck. Use Hardy, Hayes and Havelberg to give Hannath a breather but start to cater for losing rucks.

No, but they might have made it if they hadn't lost 3 times to the bottom side

What the heck has happened to the standard of umpiring in this competition??!

2 weeks to recover, might not be an issue. Some ressies players were in some serious form. Most impressive win that would have really tested several league sides.

Agree Apache - I wasn't far from the hit, and it looked like a good hit - yet again over-umpired and well 'milked'...
Horrible game to watch at times, every facet lack lustre...

I missed the Sutherland incident. A friend said there was nothing in it. He got down low and hip and shouldered. Reckons it will get thrown out. Hope so.
Well done to the ressies.

Similar to the Backwell report last week, thought this was worse than last weeks

What a shame !! And what could have been. Roosters have no-one to blame but themselves, cant even blame the umppy's. If Dogs had kicked true would have won easy. Slow start again and played catch up footy against the top side at home and almost pinched a win.

Have to tee off at the complete morons who have to abuse and ridicule an obvious great player in J Allan. You might think your funny and your brainless mates can pat you on the back for calling him soft , but to the rest of us including fellow Dogs supporters you are the face of a football illiterate. Enjoy your clubs success, and remember to get down to the footy even when YOUR club is on the bottom

Anyhow, what about Marsh's debut innings, bloody great!!!!

As much as the Dogs wasted opportunities kicking behinds, I think North wasted just as many inside 50's without even registering a score.

A season of what ifs for the Roosters:
lost 2 games by 3 goals or less,
lost 7 games by 2 goals or less,
lost 1 game by 1 goal or less,

In 2011 North were competitive nearly every game but still couldn't beat Norwood (2nd) or Sturt (9th), probably should have won enough games to play finals but are 1 or 2 tall defenders short of a very good team, definitely a step in the right direction after the crap that was dished up in 09/10 under Healey where they were regularly smashed.

Some comments definitely go overboard, but in the end if they enjoy themselves, they aren't doing anything that other fans don't reciprocate regularly.

It does balance out the way North fans go over the top though. He will no doubt win another Magarey but no way has he been the best player in any of those years. Just nobody else at North seems able to win the ball and subsequently votes. North would be a much better team with more ball winners forcing Allan to get 5-10 less touches a game.
