Rd 20 Eagles v Bays Review

Postby FlyingHigh » Sat Aug 20, 2011 5:48 pm

Eagles 19.11
Bays 2.6

Grocke, Lane 4, Allmond, Hall 3 goals

Usual suspects Cica, Powell, Macca, Jarrad, Grocke good for the Eagles.
Positives for the Eagles were the games of Raymond and Lane.
When was the last time Eagles kicked 10 goals in a quarter?

Insipid would be the kindest word to describe the Bays. Probably one of the worst efforts I can recall seeing at SANFL level.
Eagles weren't that good, play like that and we would have been done by 7-10 goals by Centrals and Norwood.

Bays seem to have a lot of good young players, in two years time they might have a group like Eagles did in the late 90's.

The Bays should do the honorable thing and boycott the elimination final as they do not deserve to be playing finals.

A sad indictment on the competition that they are safely in 4th spot.

North would be spewing about all those early close losses.
Seems pretty obvious they are equal 3rd side in the comp

To be fair to the Bays, it appears they have just started their usual finals campaign a little early this year.. ;)

Hey you sacked your coach and made the finals (at least you should)...

... we kept ours and won a spoon.

I know who I'd rather be at the moment.

That said, North will rue two losses to Sturt this year. They'd be finalists otherwise...

When Mickan got sacked I thought they said they were expecting a strong second half of the year ?

They have hardly been convincing and look a bit foolish at this point the Board at Glenelg.

Wow. Wasn't expecting that. Great effort by all the Eagles players. Glenelg were terrible and just got worse as the game went on. They'll need to turn that around against West next week or they'll miss finals.

For the Eagles supporters - see if you can get your hands on some footage from 3/4 time of the ABC telecast. Great little segment on the Eagles Team of the Decade function.

I agree MT , I reckon there is a bit to look forward to at Sturt ( with some recruits no doubt) and feel not all is well at Glenelg and they maybe in for a slide.

Glenelg would have to be the worst 4th side ever, surely?
Bugger the top 5 or 4, should only be a top 3 this year.
