If a player is reported, is there an automatic 50 metre penalty imposed?

If you get a free kick and the player is reported it is the same incident you get a free kick and no 50m. If they take a mark and the player is reported for charging etc for hitting them after the mark has been taken then a 50m can be paid because the mark is paid the report is for a difference incident.

There was a time when this was the rule - report = 50m penalty plus a free kick. That's where confusion comes from.
