Round 20 - Panthers v WA @ Hickinbotham - 2:10pm Sat 20/8/11

Postby GWW » Sun Aug 14, 2011 9:49 pm

The Panthers will be fresh after coming off the bye and full of confidence after their impressive win against Glenelg in round 18.

They come up against a West Adelaide side who will be hoping to recapture their early season form. To do this they will need to find multiple goalkicking options, however I can't see them kicking a big enough score at Hickinbotham to notch up the win.

I'll select the Panthers by 5 goals.

Everything points to South winning this game but I reckon Westies will pinch it by 5 goals...

People are only thinking perhaps finals for SA
Think again
IF SA beat WA they are 1 point behind WWT and the double chance

Interesting fact that South's last 2 premierships ('64 & '35 ) have come after wooden spoons the year prior. Surely lightning couldn't strike a third time?!
That said, this week concerns me slightly. Not played for 3 weeks, and Westies 'due' for a win...

3 week break is not a benefit at this time of year. Tipping West.

This is probably the Panthers' biggest match since the 2006 finals series. A win in this one will more than likely ensure a finals berth in September.
However, West have improved and will be playing for their season as a loss will dash any chance of playing finals footy.
South will win plenty of the footy, with their very much underated but lightening quick midfield, but I worry that in defence the Panthers are horribly short in most matchups particularly without Talia and Mckernan.
South to win but it wont be easy. 8)

going down to Norwood by a couple of kicks is a vast improvement on their effort which I witnessed v Eagles a couple of weeks ago, when they were smashed.

You need a new abacus mal ...

Eagles play Glenelg this week, usually someone wins.

If Eagles, then they'll be 3 points ahead of South, if the Bays 2 points (assuming South win).

Mmmmmm...not sure on this one.

No Talia or McKernan. 3 weeks off does not help.......we must switch on from the start.

I think we will get over the line but it will not be a easy one.

South by less than 2 goals.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Not Norwood champ.
But the lowest FOR in the comp and only 3 scores over 100 suggests West wont score enough goals.
