Round 19 - WWT v CD @ Woodville - 2:10pm Sat 13/8/11

Postby GWW » Sun Aug 07, 2011 9:08 pm

The Eagles haven't played since 23rd July so they will be extra fresh when coming up against the league leaders this week.

The Bulldogs' form hasn't been fantastic of late but they are still the team to beat. Playing at Woodville Oval though I think the Eagles will start slight favourites and I'll select them to win by 3 goals.

This game and the September 3rd match against Norwood will tell us if Centrals is the real deal or not...

No Havelberg this week, who is going to kick the goals? Time for Hynes to shine maybe?

Henderson should get dropped from the Cows. He could carve up the Eags

Rather than start a new thread specifically for it, Leigh Treeby has confirmed to the club that, at season's end, he will be going home to Victoria.

Ryan Williams has started full forward before, would expect a similar tactic again. Matt Westhoff must be close.

J Gowans, Barmby and Sutherland should all come back in.

Parry and Cica (both suspended) and Broadbent and Knights (AFL) would be out of the team that beat West.

Grieger would come straight back in. Perhaps Bock will get a recall to replace Parry and Rimington would be straight back in you'd think. Batley may get another chance as well.

Looking forward to this game. Starting to get serious now. A win here would go along way to cementing a crucial top 3 spot and would retain the bit of momentum the Eagles built up before the sabbatical.

Would expect a better encounter than when these sides met 6 or 7 weeks ago at the same venue. That was a real lackluster effort by both sides that day and if either side plays like they did that day again you'd expect a big margin.

2 week break may work to Eags disadvantage as we are a notoriously slow starter as it is.

2 week break is not ideal. If only you had a Foxtel cup match in those 2 weeks. ;)

Yes, then you could be struggling to make the five or fighting off a wooden spoon. Eagles by 25 (subject to final teams).

Guess we will never know. Although none of the teams that played in the Foxtel cup played finals last year, so if 1 makes the 5, I'm sure you will agree that it was an advantage.
