Round 19 - Glenelg v Sturt @ Glenelg - 2:10pm Sat 13/8/11

Postby GWW » Sun Aug 07, 2011 9:07 pm

Glenelg were disappointing in their last game when they kicked only 7 goals and fell to the emerging Panthers. They will need to lift this week when they face a young Sturt side who played some reasonable football before going down by 4 goals at Elizabeth in round 18.

The Bays had a comfortable 9 goal victory when these clubs met in round 8, but this clash is likely to be closer, and I'll select the home team by 2 goals.

There's two in that side that worry me, one continues to get game for no obvious reason, the other from what I've seen is probably just not up to it. I hope I'm proved wrong on the latter but the first comment is set in stone.

and the other Hinge? ;)

they are big boys, they can take it.

i am kinda shocked to hear that mcintyre is struggling, he seems to have all the characteristics of a solid FP player...what are his downfalls cutterman? I have only seen him play a few times live and on TV but wouldnt mind hearing from someone who sees him a bit more.

Hope you don't mind me answering this Jimmy , he lacks the ability to get the ball and crumb which he must do as a small forward. He has nice hands and looks well balanced but that is really it .Not much in the way of defensive pressure and does not have much awareness about him. Misses the crucial goals as well.

Hinge is interesting , although I am not an advocate of him he must be confused as a footballer as he gets moved all over the place and hasn't settled into a position . Played his best footy at Sturt on the half back flank but after 2-3 good weeks there was moved .

There seems to be a few players that get games and shouldn't which has nothing to do with lack of depth as we do have some very good young players but they seem to continuously get games regardless.
