Huge last 1/4 from South!

Ron Fuller has been quite open about his game plan to continue attacking in the last 1/4 and not to post a loose man in defence and I do think its exactly the coaching South need to harden up and finally play some good footy as we currently are. To do that to the Bays on their home deck is a pretty damn good effort and suggests there are some good signs at South that things are on the improve. :partyman:

Anybody got the quarter by quarter scores? The 3/4 time score the ABC gave was Glenelg by 1 pt.

Best players?

i went to the south port game at alberton a few weeks ago,and went out to the south huddle at 3/4 time. and he continually said that exact same thing. must continue to attack, we WILL NOT go defensive. pumped that message into the guys like it was his last breathe.thought that was interesting that he said it so much. he is certainly a good mentor IMHO.

Obviously agreat win by South. I had the Bays to finish top three at the start of the year (looks unlikely now). Who have they lost from last years side that finished second in the minor round? I know Allen is now injured. I thought they got a couple of good recruits, and hadn't lost many?

The Bays were pushing to be fourth rate; if South made 'em look second rate then South did 'em a favour.

The skills today from both sides were deplorable. I have seen U/10 games of the same calibre.

Where South won it was simply in terms of desire: in the final term they looked like they wanted to win. Glenelg looked like they were already looking forwards to the showers *. Desire vs. no desire = no contest.

Congrats to South on a deserved win.

Yes you did, yes you did.

I don't think Glenelg won one clearance out of the middle in the last qtr, Souths on ball brigade destroyed ours. Our field kicking and kicking for goal was Div 4 standard (no disrespect to Div 4).

well that was ******!! well done to souf btw absolutely killed us in the last qtr, i said to the guy next to me during the third that the team that ended up playing the least shittiest footy would win and south snapped out of it and played a great final stanza, as for my team - well the less said the better cos we were bloody woeful :evil:

great win by the south league side made even more sweeter that the reserves who sit bottom won by 18 points over the ladder leaders.

well done south

glenelg really disappointing result

:D :D 8) 8)

Very, very average game for 3 quarters. In the last, McKernan sparked South early with a couple of contested marks and goals, the centre clearances were one way traffic (32-15 overall in clearances), and the Bays simply turned to mush. South wanted it more, and won the majority of the 50-50 contests.

One bloke that was flown under the radar this year has been the skipper, but I thought he was magnificent today.

Bit harder to pick other better players as there were few consistent contributors, but McKernan's last quarter was huge and back line boys of Crabb, Thewlis, Sandery and the unlikely Veide deserve a mention. Cross and Liddle had plenty of it as per usual. Pleasing to win without Wundke having to kick half a dozen.

Some bewildering umpiring as is the norm. OK with the holding the ball rule, but a few other odd calls.

Great to see other results fall our way with Port and Westies gettting done.

Next game on Aug 20th :shock: :?

" South usually have a habit of beating the tiggers when it hurts them the most.
Panthers have improved quite a bit since we drew earlier in the year.""

South will win. ;)

about the only time i can recall souf beating us in a crucial game was back in '06, so its hardly a habit man :shock:

Ah well;
Great win by the lads today. 1 pt behind at 3/4 time -7 goals to zip in the last quarter to take the choccys.
Thewlis, Liddle, Stribling Gotch and Cross were very good . Thought Bass was pretty good in the ruck, and McKernan after recieving some "encouraging words"........ from Ron at 3/4 time finally had an influence in the last quarter.
As for "the palindromes", well I didnt notice them and I dont really care.
Umpiring = inconsistent, incompetent.
Such a pleasing win against our favourite team to beat- when it really counts.
