Round 18 - Norwood v Port @ Norwood - 2:10pm Sat 30/7/11

Norwood returned to form against the Panthers in their Sunday clash and they will be hoping for a repeat of their very easy win against Port earlier in the season.

The Magpies need to work on their starts and can't afford to give up a big lead if they are to cause an upset. Redlegs too good at home, I'll tip a 7 goal win.

I would think we should win quite easily. Should regain Zorzi and Campbell and cant see Walker getting a recall, our big men are starting to gel really well and the inclusion of Doyle has been a massive boost by allowing Dawe to go forward. Too much grunt in our midfield and i would expect us to win by 8-10 goals

I think this game will be closer than the last time these 2 sides met at this same venue...

I still think the Redlegs will win but not as comfortably asd they did last time...

I was pleasantly surprised how the 'Pies ran out the game against the Bays after returning from Perth, in fact our third and fourth quarters were our best and I really think the FOXTEL Cup has given us a bit of an edge that we didnt have last season. All too often in 2010 we were over run by 3-4 goals late in a game.

Having said that, I also think the 'Legs are one of the teams to beat and the gap between finals contenders ( Port, West, Glenelg ) is still quite wide when comparing the Premiership contenders in Central, Norwood and the Eagles.

Wont be 100 points this time, but I still see the 'Legs being too quick for us.

Will be on Coopers with a mate who is down from Brisbane for this one. Should be a good one.

Norwood to win by 4-5 goals.

Can we start Friday night??? ;)

If the long range forcast can be believed, it should be another good day for footy.

A margin closer to the 1st meeting this year would be nice...

I think Norwood have improved since last time and on that basis I predict a 120 point margin..... :D
Kidding of course but I just look to the Redlegs playing that strong running football they do and if Port have improved the margin will be closer this time.
As for the Foxtel Cup ....thanks Port, North and West for wasting your time and not ours. Bet you guys wont play again if it is offered to you next year.

So by not making the GF, we wasted our time? In that case, how many years have the Bays wasted?

Tony Bamford already put his hand up for the PAFC to play next year.

As arch rivals I wouldn't expect anything less than a massive response from Port this weekend given the nature of the last meeting .. If it's wet I would be concerned about us being a bit top heavy and I think it would bring Ports dangerous runners even more into the game.

Should be a tough and tight tussle and hopefully we can grab the points.

Neil Craigs quit. Maybe now Walker can play for the Crows?

Walker was average on sunday and still looked injured, if the crows take him it smacks of desparation.

Well when you only manage 3.6, things are pretty desperate :(
(would love Walker to qualify though)

Spot on, but it's what's going to happen so we just need to continue putting faith in those players we know will be available for sure.

Correct. I haven't considered Walker a finals prospect as yet. Only if he plays next week will he come into calculation.

Even withouut Walker our tall forwards will be a hassle for Port, South were exposed badly for their lack of tall defenders and im not sure Port has an abundance of them either. Noticed at one stage on Saturday we had Walker, Dawe, Rowe, Bown and Davis inside our forward 50 so thats 5 guys around the 190cm + mark. Doyle has been a massive inclusion as he wins his fair share of ruck duels aswell as allowing Dawe and Rowe more time in the forward line. The only concern is if we get a wet day we may be a little top heavy.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Money might be the reason why PA miss the 5
They have travelled twice this year for the Foxtel Cup
The results of the games after travelling
A 100 point loss to NW
A loss to GL by 14 points at Alberton [in the other 2011 Alberton game PA beat GL]
Was it worth PA being in this comp, were they in it for $$$$ ?????

This will be the 3rd time these 2 sides meet in 2011 in the Home and Away season
Not 1 game at Alberton
Again was it for $$$$$$ ??????
Did PA give up a home Alberton game to play at AAMI in round 1 ?
Did NW agree to this if PA played a scheduled Alberton game at Norwood in one of the next 2 games in 2011 ?
Whatever the reason its unbelievably unfair to play a team 3 times without a Alberton game

Will all of this cost PA a finals berth ?

PA knew there were two games at Coopers later in the season when the 1st round game was moved to Aami. I believe it was PA's choice that the game was moved there so not playing Norwood at Alberton was PA's choice and their problem. (won't lose sleep over it)

I believe the draw is set so you play a side twice one year you play them three times the following year. This year we obviously play 3 times and its our turn to host 2 of them. Port gave up their only home game to play the curtain raiser
