Eagles were brilliant today. A couple of players who may not be available in finals, but if they they are, watch out the rest of the competition. Knights was ubiquitous and provided enormous drive from the midfield. Grocke was unstoppable kicking 6-8 for the afternoon, should have kicked 10, but did kick one long torpedo goal from outside 50 after the 3/4 siren.

Very impressed with the Eagles, today's form was good enough to win a flag, and has added a lot of interest to the competition on top of Central's loss today. Also impressed with Staple and Hall who showed they can really play.

Allmond was also good, as were 'usuals' Lewis, Jarrad, Cicolella, Powell, etc. Grocke was reported but should get off. Looked as though he was attempting to spoil but made head contract. Parry may get reported for a sling tackle. It was identical to Taylor Walker's 2 weeks ago, but Walker should have got off, so I think Parry should as well. Precendence? Only time will tell.

Great win to the Eagles. Can't say a lot about West Adelaide. Apart from a 15 minute burst in the 2nd quarter, there isn't a lot to talk about.

After the last quarter, I still stand by my comment here:

viewtopic.php?p=1332757#p1332757

Hey, judging by the scores of the other two matches played today, maybe I'm wrong. But having to endure a last quarter where the ball was spent 90% of the time in one half with one team only making a realistic attempt to score, it leaves a bitter taste. And only reinforces my opinion on where the League is headed. Particuarly when you realise it was on show to casual armchair followers on ABC.

My highlights today:
-The mini league: more enjoyable to watch.
-The 65 metre torp from Grocke to goal after the siren at 3 quarter time.

I suppose, but I would have been more satisfied if it was a 25 goal to 12 win. It would have looked better from a neutral point of view, too.

No doubt about that, but I think the Eagles showed enough today to suggest they could go very well in the finals. Knights and Grocke were very good to watch today.

West chucked it in during the last quarter. Very poor.

Eagles pretty slick all day. Grocke could have kicked a dozen

I don't think we've had anyone qualify for the finals yet that are on an AFL list. That 5 game rule will work wonders this year.

We are back to our flooding, frustrating style where we just concede the game really early when things go against us in games. Can understand trying to stop opposition momentum etc. But we do it for rest of game and set the game up so that we can't score and therefore win. Nonsensical. Collins should be called to justify that strategy.

To be honest, AH, I didn't think the Eagles were overly good. Our physical pressure was good, but it should have been a 4-5 goal win. West were diabolical.
Agree that Hall and Staple are coming along, and one positive being, aside from Grocke, we had three other players kick 3 goals.
Grocke should get off, Cica's shepherd on Hill may be looked at. Thought Parry's tackle was slightly different to Walker's in that Walker's was two actions whereas I thought Parry's was just one motion, but a very fine line.

West, as a club, are at a very precarious point. Obviously improved greatly from the dark days, but it is going to take more sustained strength on and off the field.

Good to see the Eagles get this result given the importance of the game. Go in to the bye with a bit of confidence and can start fresh for the final leg of the season. And over 100 points!!!

Spelly, when was the last time the Eagles kicked a score like this, or won by 80 points? Thanks.

Yep, we're in the same boat with Phillips, Rodan and Walker.

I'm a big fan of Adam Grocke but i'ts painful to watch his run-up for set shots and ? why some-one hasn't corrected him

He walks in 4 paces then skips one pace, loses forward momentum and begins a more vertical bounce over the next 3 steps before skipping again for another 3 steps, more bouncy steps before finally kicking without forward momentum. Cut out the skips and get more forward propulsion. His poor goal-kicking hasn't improved over his carrer because the glaring mistakes remain - check it out, Godden. Only thing stopping him from being the premier forward in the Comp

When you compare the two, as ABC did, Parry's actually looks worse. If you think it was any different to Walker's, you may need to see them again.

That broke a sequence of 16 matches without 100 points - easily the longest we have gone without one since 1991. Previously it was 9 between Round 14 1997 and Round 1 1998. It was the highest score since Round 4 last year (24.6 vs Sturt), and the biggest margin since Round 13 2008, when it was 84 points vs Central at Woodville.

How many times did West defenders "give" the ball to Eagles players who simply kicked a goal. No heart or passion in the red and black jumper today, I am gutted. And whats with the West defenders whenever the Eagles kicked a goal they all go and tap each others hands and Ferg was the biggest culprit? I know you cannot blame one player, but for me Scott Brinknell can move on. Soft, runs away from the contest and when the ball is on the grandstand wing, he is standing on the outer wing boundray line while his opponent does whatever he wants. I have said many times that Ryan Willets is the loudest player I have heard in the SANFL...he barely raised a whimper today....I dont think I heard him once. There was no talk out there at all. Only possitve for me was Brad Fisher.

Well done to the Eagles, they played well and Groeke was excellent in the first quarter, he really set the tone for the Eagles boys.

Currently, I hate football.
