AT THIS STAGE EARLY IN THE 3RD QTR
PA 39 points down
Coming off a game in Perth last week
The only qtr the breeze intensified was the 2nd qtr when GL had it
PA by far got the worst of the 50/50 umpires decisions

RESULT
GL just got the 2 points

Rd 17 Port v Glenelg Post Game Reviews

Postby Macca19 » Sat Jul 23, 2011 6:51 pm

Great game of footy. Port didnt play to the conditions in the 1st. Sideways and backwards with a decent wind. Port did well to come back and nearly pinched it but glenelg deserved it. Kirk too good, alex grima bog for mine. And yes the umpiring was shit

Listened to this game on LifeFM. Good call by the way fella's.

Sounded like a great atmosphere with both sets of fans getting behind their team.

Sounded pretty exciting too, especially from about the 10 min mark of the 3rd. Port really turned the screws and at one point you kinda thought they would go on to win it.

The Bays earned the points today... Port made 'em work hard for it. Good contest in the end.

... and yes, the umpires were ****

Good to put a face to Booney's moniker too. 8)

And big shout out to the Port supporters who were quick run to the players race fence to bag Sellsy in rd 2 after our 3 pt loss at Alberton. He really stood up in the last qtr, took some really good telling marks, competed hard for the footy, and won taps off Maric and Micklejohn in the last 10 mins when Cranny was off. Then he kicks the sealer after a clean take off the deck and snap through the Southern goals.

One would of thought the Port supporters would be chuffed to see a player rebound and show their appreciation for a job well done to player who has improved in the last 14 weeks, as we walked off....

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

entertaining game with both sides having patches of control, glenelg the first half & port the third term & it was pretty even last stanza although glenelg had the majority of it, i thought we id have the better of the umpiring in the first half but that was because we played in front & was running, which port did in the third (very well too), ports second goal of the day (biasci) was from a great sheperd & although unintentional it was by the port runner, i thought the move of maric onto grima after halftime setup the comeback as grima was cut out of the game, butcher should get a chance at afl level because he competes & runs, our best i thought t. grima (early) a.grima (2nd half), kirk, tenace (late), panozzo, mcmahon, while others like rudolph, murphy, kirkby, sellar, kennedy & neale all bobbed up at crucial times, ports best players i thought in budget order were meiklejon, dolling, butcher, maric, summerton, milera & young harris looks a goer, i wonder if port will rue the trip to perth by thinking in hindsight it didn't help them or was it because glenelg had a lot of injuries which helped them......footy the winner today (if both adelaide & port power had a crack like todays 2 teams they'd both win more games)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Ty Allen potentially gone for 8 weeks with an injury. That will hurt Glenelgs premiership tilt .

We have a lad by the name of Brad Agnew (protegy of Ty) willing to give it a shot - admittedly he's not Ty, but will slot in there and give it everything he's got.

The one that I think you may actually give a shake and the same one your one and only Mr Metcalf has spoken about. When he sacked Mickan , to ensure he would keep Massie after he discovered another club was talking too him allegedly ,he publicly stated he thought they still were in the race and they just needed a new coach.

FWIW with AFL inclusions I think they are a chance .

Big call to replace Allen though , the toughest in the comp IMO.

What a crap 1st half of football by the magpies.. stuffing around with it, missing targets and basically playing like a bunch of amateurs. Would be nice if Surjan actually kicked a ball to a team mate that didnt bounce 3 times before it gets there too...

And then BANG! Not sure what was said or done at half time, but the magpies that came out in the 3rd qtr was just awesome.. crisp ball movement, running attacking football that was a pleasure to watch. If someone can teach Butcher to kick a set shot, he will tear games apart.

The last qtr was 1 hell of a qtr, a real decent slog that would have been awesome to watch as a neutral supporter.. port just couldnt get their nose in front and run over the bays, every time we get to within a kick, the next centre clearance is a tiger 1 and a goal to go back to 8 points or so...

Nice to meet booney, dedja and sjabc... and have pseudo pointed out as he walked past

You too mickey ...

I tell you what, at times Port today reminded me of the Jack Cahill days with that play-on and quick movement forward.

Absolutely flogged the Bays in the centre clearances in the 2nd half, especially the 3rd.

Very relieved to get over the line today.
