STAND AT THE FOOTBALL that is... now get your mind out of the gutter

Do you have a spot that is yours and yours only? Do you get around a bit and not really care where you stand and who with?
When growing up and going to the footy with the old man he had to sit on the wing, never further around than half forward and usually the outer side..

I'm a Grandstander at most grounds. Norwood is the exception given they don't have an adequate public stand, so there it's the outer wing in front of the baseball scoreboard and foul pole.

Thats where i witnessed the friday night debacle bruce, wasnt too bad a spot and didnt cop much grief surprisingly.. always found the Parade an interesting place to watch the footy from.. Coopers hill is jammed packed and a fight for space, but the other end lacks a bit of the atmosphere..

It's basically the only spot you can get a half decent view of the game at Norwood IMO, it's why I always consider it the worst ground in the SANFL.

To follow on from that when selecting a spot to watch the game from what do people consider more important view or atmosphere?

I always stand at the footy, hate sitting. Even when i went to AAMI on friday to watch the bombers i stood at the back row.

Ideally both. Usually the wings/grandstands of grounds can provide both a good view and a good atmosphere.

In front of the grandstand, just to the south of the race. Away games, near the grog.

When I can actually get along to a game these days (whose idea was it to have kids

) tend to go end to end, but not with the end to enders... At Elizabeth Oval (Playford Alive, I know), the southern end, just to the right of the eastern point post on the top of the concrete steps...at the northern end, just to the left of the eastern point post, half way up the hill...
Have been standing there ever since I started going in early 90's.
Though my usual accomplice and I moved to the grandstand side on the apocalyptic day against Glenelg last year in the final quarter to try and gain some respite from the weather.... it didn't work.

My old man was like this too, probably his eyesight.
I like standing at different parts of a ground each time I go to it to get a different perspective. Sometimes a game can seem good from one vantage point and ordinary from another I reckon.
Like standing at the southern half forward line/pocket at Woodville, but atmosphere can lack a bit down that end. Wouldn't be a problem if we were getting 4-5000, but is when we only get half. Doesn't help that the two gates they open are down the northern end, and so are the grandstands and club and cricketers club.

As a kid from early 70's to mid 80's, with the old man and his piss-head mates under the score board at Eliz. Now on Western Concourse with the Father-in-Law and the brats..oops, kids.
Away games, usually outer wing. Only once have I sat in a grandstand at an away game, Prospect in late 80's, where the wife, her cousins and myself were roundly abused and roughed up by the nastiest old "lady" I have ever seen...the language was bluer than blue..I thought is was hilarious but the wife made us leave.

On a night/day off from other commitments, always stand in the same place on Coopers Hill with a group - just next to one of the bins midway up.

At Hickinbotham Oval,
a. I am usually beneath "the Stratco carport"-food,souvenirs,bar and dunny all within 20m. Plenty of good natured banter to be had with opposition supporters there.
b. "The hut on the hill" -the past players bar, great view and good atmosphere.Swanny and Spider do a great job.
c. The upstairs function room. Without doubt the best viewing area anywhere in the sanfl. Not a bad spot when the "Seaford Doctor" blows in.

Near Centurion and Matty who is very recognisable through his LOUD 'U Dog' chants.
