Round 11 - Glenelg v Norwood @ Glenelg - 2.10pm Mon 13/6/11

The Redlegs are one of the form teams in the competition at the moment, and they will be looking at building on this momentum when they come up against a Glenelg side who managed a draw in round 10. The Bays have been a little disappointing this year but do have some real quality players amongst their ranks. I'd expect Norwood to win by around 5 goals.

Norwood will have an off day, coming down from the high of beating the top team in a gruelling contest.

Therefore Norwood to win by 4-6 goals, after Glenelg comes back from a customary half time defeicit of 10 goals.

i watched both games yesterday (norwood v central & south v glenelg)....the intensity of the norwood game was more intense but not by a lot, we need to be ready to rock'n'roll, strut'n'stroll & take care of business from the first bounce, if that happens we'll win a close, tough contest give them the latitude we've been giving teams & they'll slaughter us

ps we did it earlier in the year out at norwood which has been our only full 4 quarter effort for the year

Norwood has a terrible record of recent years vs the Bays - and it is even worse at Glenelg.

Recently a few of us were discussing whether Norwood had a better record at Elizabeth in the last decade, or at Glenelg. We thought we might have a better record at Elizabeth! Cue Spelly?

As far as I can tell, the last time we (nwd) won at the Bay was R7 Sat 10 May 2003

The last time Nwd defeated CD at Elizabeth was R2 Sat 5 Apr 2003

but I would be happy to be corrected on both (pleeze ;) )

I thought he wasn't too bad for the Power last night, although he did over-run the ball a couple of times.

I noticed late in the game, he also hurt the shoulder that he had strapped. Not sure if it was a 'stinger' or if he has done some damage?

He isn't up to AFL standard. Every 10 times he goes for the ball, he fumbles 7 of them. He runs around packs, runs past an opponent with the ball throwing one arm out at him in an "attempt" at a "tackle".

History repeats for Flipper. He was exactly the same for Norwood at first. Once again it's new teamates,
new opposition, new grounds etc. He's just one of those blokes that takes a while to settle down.
Flipper tries too hard too soon and makes a meal of things at his blistering pace. Once he becomes
more comfortable with his new surrounds he starts to shine. Concentration, positioning, ball handling,
accuracy and all other performance issues gradually click into place and then blossom.
HOLY CRAP !
What am I saying??? No, no, you're quite right, he's totally useless. Simon Phillips should go straight back
to Norwood for the rest of the year !!!

This was my biggest fear for Flipper at AFL level and I said it before he was selected. He has all the skills required, but his biggest weapon in the SANFL is forcing the ball out in front and burning off opposition players whilst gathering the ball. Sometimes he can fumble 2 or 3 times before gaining possession, and in the AFL you just can't afford to do this.

I would give him a little time. Once he gets used to the requirements of AFL, he may develop into a more effective player.
