This is bound to happen here, particularly now the AFL will want control of PAFC.

Another reason NOT to move to Adelaide Oval.
The Crows Reserves side should play @ Footy Park, & the 'One-club' should play @ Alberton.

Spend money redeveloping both Footy Park & Alberton, forget the Adelaide Oval.

If you reckon this is not the bell tolling for the death of the SANFL, think again :(

I will NEVER attend a SANFL game featuring a dedicated AFL reserves side.

The Sandgropers can buggerise their own league how they see fit. But keep AFL garbage out of our league.

what has this got to do with adelaide oval. let the port reserves play at alberton and the crows reserves can play away every week, as they are proposing in the wafl format.

It will happen for sure now the SANFL Commission and Executive (not the 8 clubs) have allowed Port to turn into a basket case whilst blaming everyone else except themselves. Anyhow it will be "bye bye magpies" if the reserves concept gets up! After all how many years can the 8 other clubs stomach the Magpies being funded by SANFL handouts and now AFL handouts? Didn't see the AFL offering to clear the debts of North, Sturt, West etc when we all hit hard times but the Magpies get another boost until they are killed off in a year or two or however long it will take to get the ressies up and running?

The 8 clubs would have to vote it in, so I trust them to not want this, petition your club if you dont want it

The SANFL commission will vote it in won't they? It will happen. The sad thing is, the Port Magpie supporters signed their own death warrant by voting for the One Club proposal.

Did you read the article, or did you just post a response to my post?
It stated in the article about the Eagles & Dockers reserves side playing @ a local BASE ground, revenue generated.
Port crying foul about 'the stadium deal' it has & the lack of revenue kept 'in house' - perfect solution, rejuvenate Alberton!

yes i did read the article, hence my comment about thinking that west coast and freo would play away every week to give their opponents an extra home game with which to earn revenue. must have just interpreted it wrong. my bad

I think Port have turned themselves into a basket case. It's not the SANFL who aren't turning up to watch them.

The SANFL are in a stronger position than almost any league outside the AFL, with about $150 million in assets. Whatever happens to the licences, or anything else, the SANFL will control the stadium and maintain a healthy revenue stream.

Most of what has been put in the paper has been from the writers' own agendas and a lot of it has been uninformed nonsense.

PS 1: Pseudo, waiting with interest for your response to the previous questions.

PS 2" The clubs will vote on Reserves teams. The AFL clubs have always wanted it, it's up to us all to make sure it doesn't happen.

Why do I get the feeling the SANFL clubs don't have any say in what happens any more?

They elect the Commissioners, who are all club men.

Why can't we just go back to the way things were.

here here :(

What to Fremantle propose to do when like a couple of weeks ago they had 25 or so to pick from for the 'A' Grade the other week? Where do they get these extra players? Would be a waste of time for all concerned if they picked a bunch of amateurs to fill the gaps for that week even Peel Thunder would probably win by 60 plus

you wouldn't like that because port would still be winning flags & central not as many, seriously though one can only wish ;)

i can not see how this can be done even given their reasonings as it definately cheapens the state product, so when there is 40 players on a list to start with, then add injuries & the like, which to me means there isn't enough players to field 2 teams, atm freo a lucky to be able to field a team......if it goes through it will be only a matter of time before it happens here :( :( :(

But it would be far more enjoyable than what is about to happen.

I have very little confidence in the SANFL commission not selling out the league... in the end the AFL will use it's vast wealth to manipulate and persuade members to change their tune and just plain knife the local clubs.

Plus there is no one in the media, not even ex-SANFL players, who seem to show any interest in protecting the rights and future of the local league, they seem to view the SANFL now as a way of improving the depth and strength of the AFL sides and to hell with what the repercussions are with regards the competitions integrity.

I'm not even convinced you won't get a selection of local presidents who will see dollar signs and say it's worth passing control over to the AFL, becoming AFLSA etc and in return getting our debts wiped and so on.

The league is significantly worse now than what it was prior to the birth of the Crows and the lack of competition that exists at the moment and Port Adelaide Magpies precarious position is only making the situation worse.

Once the Crows field a reserves team, people can kiss goodbye any chance of this league returning to anything like what it was 25 years ago.

I think this is what the VFL/AFL want. They did it to the VFA/VFL, there used to be thousands of people attending that comp and now it's dead.

They know there's not enough seats at AFL games for the people they're trying to stop from going to local competitions, so they're hoping that these people will stay in their lounge rooms and watch their 'product' on TV.
