Just being pedantic but I notice that it is titled "AFL" statistics. I thought the AFL was another branch of Australian Rules Football. Call it a sub branch if you will.

Good find Big Phil. Too bad it isn't complete, but what stats are available are very interesting. ;)

From those stats, you wouldn't believe North were on the bottom if you hadn't seen the premiership table.

It's just a Champion Data pro-forma they'd use for AFL games.

Yeah especially the free kick stats. ;)

Looking at Norwood's stats I now have some substance behind when I shout "Kick the bloody thing!"

Yep, 2nd most goals and they're bottom. Unbelievable!

2nd most goals yet bottom for inside 50s. Baffling

Why do you ask mate?

Not as accurate as the stats that the individual club people collate I'd suggest.

Also probably have different interpretations of stats too. IIRC T.Walker was recorded with less tackles by Champion than Norwood's stats team the other week.

100% correct.

I had a quick comparison to our stats, and their clearance stats are very dodgy (an incredibly low 120 for Glenelg compared to 298 recorded by us!) but most of the others are relatively similar, although they tend to miss quite a few handballs (1092 for Glenelg by us vs 1025 recorded by them).

The biggest issue with such comparisons is the possibility of different interpretations by different Champion Data callers. I believe they often have certain people who tend to do the majority of certain team's games.

So for example, if the caller who does Norwood games uses a very strict definition of a tackle, Norwood's tackle numbers will appear to be much lower than other teams, but this may not be because they are tackling less at all.

Also, different callers have different interpretations of what constitutes an inside 50 (for example when a team passes the ball in and out of the 50m line a few times, or whether you include I50 marks from kickins as a new I50).
Hence I wouldn't read too much into any minor differences between teams, but the larger trends are likely to indicate something real.

Unless I have made a major error along the line, I have Paul Thomas' statistics as:

Games: 8
Kicks: 150
H/Balls: 53
Disposals: 153
Marks: 60
Tackles: 37
FF: 7
FA: 15
HO: 6
Clearances: 30
Inside 50s: 46
Rebound 50s: 11
Score: 11.6

Yet these Champion stats have Thomas as having played seven games. I'm certain he's played all eight matches??
