Eagles impressive, Bays not....
Bays have the talent and the fitness.
Application and desire for the contest missing since August 2010

Listened to this game on LifeFM
Seemed a game of 2 halves, with WWT on top in the 1st half and Glenelg taking control in the 2nd. Had the Bays kicked a bit straighter in the 3rd qtr it might have been a different result. As it was WWT kicked the only goal of the qtr extending their lead at the break by a point whilst Glenelg kicked 0.7
Goldsworthy was running amock in the 1st qtr and it sounded like every time WWT got the ball inside 50 it resulted in a goal. they did get 5 frees inside 50 in the 1st qtr and kicked 4 goals from them. I have no idea if the free's were there but it did sound like Glenelg were a tad undisciplined early on.

I noticed in the after match comments vs Norwood and West something about the personnel of those sides. The gist was that their club would probably have won if they had whoever was out of the side playing that day.
Well, let me say this. If you want to look at how tested our depth is, you need look no further than the Reserves score today. Our lowest score ever in the Reserves, shaving two goals off the previous low set in Round 19 1995 against North (3.7 vs 8.9). Having a look at the recording of the game, I hear that there is a total of 20 players out through the three grades, plus another 7 involved with the U18s lab rats comp.
Grieger was on the sidelines for most of the day too. Perhaps if we had Hall, Cica, Rowntree, Hentschel etc. back in the side, we might have won today, too. Oh hang on...injuries don't matter if your side wants the ball more, actually wants to score goals against a formidable opponent and voila. We took a 40+ lead at half time, and while it was disappointing to not score 100 points again, credit goes to Glenelg for clawing their way back in the last.

Fantastic performance by the ENTIRE side.
Bays had only 1 winner IMHO - Kirkby.
Our boys are playing very well @ the moment despite being down on personal - appears to be a real hunger for the ball. Since the debarkle vs Sturt, we are playing good hard footy, led by the midfield - Parry IS the best big man in the League, he absolutely DOMINATED from the 1st bounce to the last today.
Goldsworthy was superb all day also.
C. Cornes was poor, the amount of fumbles really surprised me... I think he should retire ASAP, he has been a fine footballer but he just doesn't appear up to it @ present.
The sooner they get rid of Grimma, the better IMHO. He's a front runner.
Bays looked disinterested & unsettled - perhaps due to the AFL inclusions upsetting their side.
Mickan MUST be on 'borrowed time' - no way they'll renew his contract if today's performance is indicative of their season. They'll make the 5 but won't do much, perhaps out in 1st week after Elimination Final.
Was terrific to catch up with SJABC again - is a good man (for a Derby Fan, that is).
Also, Dedja & Stampy - the latter was hobbling terribly!
Go You Eagles!!!

Despite the scoreline, I had the stats at 48 inside 50's apiece; centre breaks 14-14; marks inside 50 12-11 WWT's way. Makes the overall margin even more surprising on paper, although with the likes of Vince (32 disposals), Goldsworthy (27) and Lewis (27) getting plenty of it, it told a story through the middle. Craig Parry was excellent also, IMHO (18 disposals, 7 marks).
To be honest, I really think that any criticism of Chad Cornes is downright unfair. 17 disposals, 6 marks, but virtually all disposals were effective and thought he presented with real passion and desperation. The longer he remains left out of the AFL, the longer I won't understand it. Maybe not a big impact on stats, but the extra that he brings to a contest is surely a big factor. Sometimes a club really needs a player who is contributing in a big degree away from the stat sheet, and I would have thought that Glenelg would be pretty happy with having him with them rather than Port.

I'd give my best players to the following:
Eagles: Vince, Goldsworthy, Parry, Grocke, Jarrad, McKenzie, Lewis
Glenelg: Salopek, Kirkby, Cornes, B.Kane, Panozzo, Hender

Were we watching the same game???
I saw him fumble @ least 5 times & miss a target @ least 4 times in the 2nd & 4th quarters.
Seriously, the guy was INEFFECTIVE - given, he wasn't alone but please, he wouldn't have been in the top 8 players on the ground.
He did take a very good grab in front of us but apart from that was (& I repeat) INEFFECTIVE

Who's Grimma??? Do you mean Grima LEH? If so, which one? Please explain why which ever Grima you're talking about is a front runner? Mickan on borrowed time? You won by 4 goals, the same amount gifted to you in the first quarter. Cornes should retire asap??? You're a deadset knucklehead.

For what it is worth, we recorded 13 of his 17 disposals as being effective.

Great effort from the lads today - just a shame we couldn't keep it going in the last quarter. But credit to Glenelg for their 2nd half. Gave us too much space and time with the ball in the 1st half which was never going to continue for the whole game.
Parry was magnificent leading the ruck and his work around the ground didn't go unnoticed either. A true workhorse. One of Goldsworthy's best game for the club too. And that #57 put in another top performance. I'd almost give him the 2011 Club Champion award now!
Kirkby stood out for the Bays especially in the 1st half. I'd love to add to the Chad knockers but I did think he was useful for them today providing a target and spark at times.

CK, I was wondering how much of the ball Cornes got in the final quarter. I "sort of" watched the game today and didn't think Cornes was all that impressive. The reason I ask about the final quarter was it occured to me whilst watching Taylor Walker last week that as the game went on, the superior fitness of AFL players allows them to get more of the ball. By the end of last week's match, Walker was virtually getting the ball whenever he felt like it.
Watching Cornes today, I remember thinking he was still a handy SANFL player but looked spent as an AFL prospect.
Cornes was clever today when he saw an Eagles player, took 3 steps and just rammed his head into his chest. The umpire, being an umpire, saw the head high contact and awarded Cornes a kick for goal. Good on Chad, very clever, but I really wish umpires were smarter than that.

Glenelg this year = WLWLWLWL.
Disappointed that the umpires took it upon themselves to decide the outcome early in the game
