With the announcement that the Adelaide Oval redevelopment now has the approval of members, does anyone know when the actual works are to start on the ground and from when it will become unavailable to the SANFL to use as a venue?

The test match is actually on Australia Day next year (as it always should be). You are right though to suggest that the works will commence once the major cricket for 2011-12 is over.

Will the ground be able to be utilised whilst construction is going on?

probably not as 3/4 of the ground will be a construction site. It was barely usable during the Western Stand construction

When the re-developement is complete will the SANFL be allowed to play games on it, especially considering the AFL has a very strict policy on how grounds have to be prepared and what standard they have to be up to.

There are plenty of unknowns, and there will be plenty of twists and turns to come .. The football landscape has constantly changed throughout my 30 years of following football, and I would expect that would always be the case, evolution I guess.

These days we can find a million reasons not to attend a game of footy or cricket, but if we want the next generations to attend them, then we have to do our bit and get them involved and attending.

Rain, hail, shine, hot or cold .. I don't give a rats if Norwood are playing in a 50,000 seat stadium in front of 2000 people I'll be encouraging my kids to get along and support them .. If we don't do that then we're just hiding behind excuses.

The difference being change rooms and coaches boxes will be largely unaffected during the revamp as they're already done. This was the main issue during the western stand redevlopment.

The MCG was still being utilised while work went on with the northern stand. Dunno why AO cant still be a SANFL venue in the meantime.

Guess that means the end of the agreement with Adelaide Oval and the Sturt footy club to play night games there, along with the various other SANFL games played at night there. Where do Sturt and other sides that dont have lights go to host night footy, Football Park perhaps?

Defeats the purpose IMO. The Parade would be a better option or go back to more day games.

I believe construction will be in two stages. Southern end first then Eastern side. Should remain open to SANFL footy all the way through.

Which means why not? Makes sense to ease people into Adelaide and get them used to the place plus turn some $$ over. The biggest single problem will always be PARKING and therefore access to the ground. You cannot just build an underground car park into the Torrens flood plain without consequences. Maybe a push-button zip up car park like the retractable light towers that never worked. Sorry, I am being flippant!

Is the answer car parks further out with a mono-rail like Darling Harbour Sydney servicing movement to the oval? I guess I am dreaming.

There are thousands of secure parks just a drop-kick away in the CBD. I'm sure the Adelaide Council will come on board and open a few of their U_Parks up on game day at a cheap rate ($5?). Especially since they are concerned with parking on the Parklands.

The Adelaide council is the biggest bunch of crims out there. Id expect parking prices to skyrocket on game day
