Adelaide Oval PA

Postby SDK » Tue Apr 26, 2011 9:11 pm

Twice this year the ridiculous use of the PA system has almost ruined my day/night at the football...... at a minimum it was a very big detraction from the experience.
Do the people who control the volume of this system ever test it or have any idea at all how xxxxing load it is ? We stood under the scoreboard Monday and the Friday night game against Sturt all my friends and a large number of people there were screaming out ...shut that xxxxing thing up !
I understand the need to promote sponsors and club activities but the person or persons on the PA are totally carried away with the opportunity to use the mic.
Do we need loud mindless music at the breaks when most people want to have a chat ?
I rang 3 of my friends who are casual football attendees and all 3 said ...no way am I going to Adelaide Oval while they have that xxxxing BS music screaming out all xxxxing night !

Turn it down and restrict the use to essential announcements because you are ruining the day/night for many many supporters and sending others away.

The problem was that the video screen was the only PA speaker for the entire ground!
I was at the red seats in the members stand and could hear the bugle on the field and then again from the video screen a second later. Even the national anthem was out of time with the band due to the delay it takes for the sound to get half way across the stadium.

Correct. In the western stand the pre-match formalities were in stereo!

Whoever thought that sticking a pile of speakers on top of a video screen is a good PA system should be shot. Makes the sound terribly inconsistent. While those at the scoreboard end complain it's too loud, it's barely audiable in the Bradman Stand. The ground needs a proper PA system, which I hope will happen with the redevelopment.

Having said that, the quality of a PA system is no excuse not to go to a game.

Was walking along the Torrens near the Festival Theatre yesterday arvo at quarter time and could hear the PA quite clearly, could also hear the crowd during the qtr...sounded like alot more than 6000ish that were there.
Trust the process.

Standing on the hill it's hideously loud. Yet when in the stands it's far from it.

I was sitting with the Spirit opposite the interchange area. Perhaps if the Doggie supporters on the hill chantted louder during the game (as loud as they did in time on of the last quarter) I would have heard them.

With your lot calling out "BALLLLLL" every time a Norwood player got within 3 foot of a Centrals player, I doubt you'd have heard it anyway.

I thought that was the Thunderbirds cheer squad - every time a Centrals player touched a Norwood played they wanted a free kick

Okay, so the spirit is a hat. Does it get it's own seat at the footy?
