Have heard that the Port v Sturt match may be moved to Alberton on the Sat June 4th rather than being the curtain raiser to Port v Carlton at Aami the next day.
Is this true?
If so, good move after the farcicle (spelling?) attempt at a curtain raiser last time.

That would be our home game to do with as we wish, so I hope not.

All very well for you to say so, with respect. However if this is your club/clubs choice then it is up to them to get the whole thing right as compared to their first disgraceful half arsed attempt. How can this "divine" merger ever be taken seriously with the planning that we witnessed from the Norwood pantomime?

Surely it is in Port's best interest to host the game at Alberton and get 5000 or so paying to attend there rather than a couple of thousand showing up to AAMI. Not to mention the extra catering dollars etc at suburban ground. Port v Sturt at Alberton is a far better representation
of this comp than an early game in "ghost town" conditions at footy park. Programming of SANFL games should reflect the true standing of our comp and not submit to being the AFL clubs playthings.

Is this right ?
PA V NW RD 1 PA home game at AAMI
ST V NW RD 2 ST home game at ADELAIDE OVAL
EG V ST RD 3 EG home game at ADELAIDE OVAL
If this is correct
All 3 games had something in common
The side that traded a home ground to a nuetral ground all LOST
The 3 losers may have made more $$$ but gained the sum of no Premiership points
Whats more important money or the points I ask ?

I hope the spirit of those results continues this week MAL -
Rd 4 - Central v Norwood (Adelaide Oval).
While the Dogs haven't traded a home game, they are the home team on the day

It's an age old argument Mal, and probably depends on just what the financial situation of a club is .. In an extreme situation, you would say that if the money helped keep the doors open for an ailing club that it's better to play and lose, than not be able to field a team at all.

RD4 CD V NW...ADEL
RD3 NW V GL ...NW
RD2 ST V NW...ADEL
RD1 PA V NW ..AAMI

Just for interests sake
How much would it cost a SANFL team missing Finals ?
IF one of ST/PA/EG teams missed the finals by a whiska then would not playing in at least an Elimination Final cost the club a lotta $$$$$$$$$ ????????????
Do the clubs participating in Finals share some /most or all of the gate receipts ?
IF they do share Finals gate receipts
Should the clubs go for BROKE, keep home games and enhance making the finals ?
Does what a club make in Finals revenue offset a Minor Round home game played at AAMI/ADEL oval ?

That North v Norwood game on the 13th is Adelaide Oval also mate .. Norwood don't play at a suburban away venue until Round 9 at Richmond (and you also omitted the 2nd Semi of last season)

Get what right, the hour between the games? That was a ridiculous AFL edict. And interesting that I think the gap between the West Adelaide match and the Showdown was only about half hour. Port pushed to have the match as a night game so the SANFL could be more normal but it was rejected.
And the double-headers have less to do with making money and more to do with a long-term strategy of bringing the two supporter groups closer together.
No-one says it will happen overnight, but it will happen.

It's simple, really. Where does the money come from? Gate takings. Where would the supporters rather watch a minor round footy match? Where would the players rather play? Forget everything else. The answer is simple. More people go to suburban ground night games than these bloody curtain raisers AND ALWAYS WILL.

Stubbornness by Port failing to admit they stuffed up yet again versus common sense.
Let's hope common sense prevails and the match is moved and the failure is never tried again by the 2 Port clubs.

Sheesh thats news to me. Why the move?
Fri night at AO is a lot more appealing than Sat arvo at Prospect.
I think the Crows are playing at AAMI that arvo too.
