Round 4 - CD v Norwood @ Adelaide Oval - 3.10pm Mon 25/4/11

Postby GWW » Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:36 pm

All SANFL fans have been looking forward to this match between the 2010 grand finalists, and with a bit of luck it will be as close as the last time these 2 sides clashed. The Bulldogs showed in round 3 they are still the team to beat for this year's flag.

I think the Redlegs can win in a close one, however they will need to put in a better effort than they did against Glenelg.

My tip: Norwood 4 points

Reckon there could be a few personnel changes, notably McGuiness who I'd think is likely to be absent, although Jonas is a nice replacement and Will Young is waiting in the wings.

I think we can play better than we did on Friday night (although a fair degree of that was not being allowed the freedom to play how we'd like).

Whether that's good enough to beat the Dogs I dunno, as I haven't seen them in action yet.

I would think Central will go with pretty much the same team as last week, Nash maybe injured and Gunston maybe to the crows would be the only outs and possibly Henderson to return back to the Dogs for a week.

Just a quick thought but think we match up pretty well against a couple of Norwoods danger players in Jericho (one of Hayes, Nash, Havelberg, Gunston, Spurr would all be a good match size wise for him) and Eagleton (may have Thomas, Sansbury, O'Hara, Williams, Goodrem, Dutschke near him all day)

Should be a cracker not much seperates these 2 sides as last year proved, Norwood have just as good a recent record against the Dogs in minor round games as any.

Either side by less than 15 points is my tip. ;)

Don't follow centrals so forgive me if this is a dumb question. What happened to Damian Hynes? Saw people rated him highly but as far as I know hasn't broken into the league team yet? What's the go? I went to school with him and he was always a big unit

Damian is still at the club, has been playing a fair bit in the reserves over the last couple of seasons...

He did play a couple of league games early last year as a key forward while Daniel Schell (now retired) was out of the side injured...

Damian would have been close to cracking the league side again late last year as he showed some pretty good form in the 2's, including kicking 7 straight in a reserves final, but just couldn't force his way into the league side with some ppretty handy forwards in front of him.

This year he would be looking to play some more league footy but pretty sure he had an injury throughout the pre-season and was a little bit behind the 8-Ball fitness wise.

Has played the first couple of ressies games as full back, I think the Dogs like to use him as a utility, thus playing him at both ends of the ground, and yes, he is still a big unit, a very solid lad.

Hope this helps catters...

Is that a typo Centurion? (I thought it was usually Dogs by 10 goals?). If not, it must be a compliment ;)

I have a feeling that something like 7/8 of the last games played had been single digit margins - in the points column? However, I doubt any were at Adelaide Oval so that could be an interesting new dynamic for these two teams.

Hopefully there is a very good crowd for this game too - Norwood's crowds this year have been 23,000 vs PAMS  , 7,000+ vs Sturt and 8,011 vs the Bays. Being a grand final re-match and on Anzac Day, all the ingredients are there for another classic encounter. Being a Dogs home game  I hope they are putting on free parking this time around as well ;)

I HOPE it's not a typo! Yes, I have a feeling there will be about 15,000 there, hopefully the weather will be good, not that it matters to me, I'll be slumming it in the members in the new western stand! Can't wait! I feel like Norwood & Centrals are now the bitter rivals of the SANFL, like Norwood v Port games. See you there!

I think Damian will take Yves spot when he's unavailable, and if Damian is "over" his leg problems.

Uniformed ADF personnel will be admitted free of charge to this game. ADF personnel not in uniform who produce a current ADF ID will also be admitted for nix...with the arrival of 7RAR from Darwin to the Edinburgh military area this year, a good idea for the SANFL and CDFC to reach out a branch to the new pongos in Elizabeth-town;) WD to all parties involved, SANFL, SACA, CDFC, NFC and the SA govt....was always going to draw a good sized crowd, but this I'm sure will ensure a bumper crowd at the old girl for this game!
C'mon you Reds....Adelaide United = its just like watching Brasil!!!

I love both footy[NOT the V/AFL!] and soccer, is that even allowed??;)

Yeah, agreed.

Central have put a real emphasis on making sure new 7RAR arrivals are aware of the local SANFL competition and that they are in the heartland of CDFC.

The Dogs new Marketing Manager, Kym Jarman, started yesterday with the club and no doubt, one of his most important first up roles will be to strike up a solid relationship with the new community out there and ensuring they know about the SANFL and Central.

I know the club were trying to organise a heap of tickets to their first home game on the weekend just gone against the Panthers. Really hoping there will be a big crowd turn up for this one, plenty of neutral fans should head along to this one as well.

You can thank the one and only Peter Broelman for this, together with the CDFC & the SANFL, not the SACA, NFL and DEFINITELY not the government. (he can't respond to this thankyou though, apparently he is still banned from here but he is very appreciative)

Playing the Mckenzie card so soon?

The strudel industry mourns.
