Round 1 Eagles v South @ Woodville

Postby bayman » Sun Mar 27, 2011 9:08 pm

i'd expect south to put up a fight but the eagles (my favourite for the flag) to run away with it in the second half
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

This will be a closer game than people think I feel...

Tight game up until 3/4 time before the Eagles win by 5 or 6 goals...

Has been very quiet this pre-season. Have barely heard a whisper out of the trial games - besides Big Phil's posts here on SA Footy (thanks Phil). Looks as though Tiller and Hentschel are under injury clouds and Symmons, Rimington, Geddes and Kite are all unavailable early in the season. Jacobs also won't be an inclusion due to injury, but Petrenko should be available.

There is a high expectation on the Eagles this year and it is justified given their recruiting and quality core group of players having stuck together now for a number of years. However, it is all well and good to talk the talk, but it is on the field over a long season where teams make their statements.

Wins on the board early are vital - the loss to South early last year ended up costing the Eagles a top 3 spot - so the Eagles will be looking to come out all guns blazing and make an early statement that they mean business this year. My tip is the Eagles by 3 goals - South will be ok again early this season.

A must win game by the Eagles .As the last league team to lose to them in 2010 its vital the Eagles win IMHO.

And to all those Eagle fans dont judge on trail game wins or loses . Eagles on Saturday either by injury or coach taking players off. Main back line players either had a rest or went up forward after 1/2 time .As Salter did going down back after 1/2 or 3/4 time. ;)

Not certain about Tiller ( would Christain Grocke get a call up one of the best seconds players this year so far). But Hentschel will be playing .Was told he would play in the trial against the dogs then rest against bays .
Should be ready for South!!

Of course but I suppose the best people to ask would be the kids . You do make some obvious statements at times Phil.

Each home game, we have a nic-nac giveaway for our Under 18 members who bring in their membership card.
- ie ruler, poster, wrist band, player card, vil's donut on Kids Day, treasure hunt prizes on Community Day etc .. so over 10 home games it adds up
- if they get their membership card stamped at 6 or more games they go into the draw for a nintendo wii.

Happy to match our junior supporters program (& numbers involved) with any club in the SANFL.

No need to get cranky just because someone isn't in agreeance with you . Settle Phil , probably taking yourself a bit too serious, relax a bit , do you good.

Not cranky at all mate and not a case of someone not agreeing with me, more a case of trying to understand the context and reasoning behind some posts on here?

Anyway, back to the game at hand, will be interested in your thoughts on the game HP - who do you think will win and why?

As I said earlier, I think the Eagles will be too strong, in the end, for the Panthers but I'm really keen to get a look at South this year, the only side haven't seen live as yet, but I do really feel they will improve a fair bit this season.
